Just wondering if CSAT rifle course would be worthwhile for a deploying soldier type... Already had some training with Gunsite and Tactical response, but kind of looking for something to get tuned up with in terms of intermediate distance.
Paul Howe is one of the finest instructors on the planet. His experience is second to none and his teaching style is very different from others I have experienced. I would greatly encourage you to take one of his classes if you have the opportunity.
Agreed...Paul is not only one of the nicest guys I've trained with, he's patient, thourough, and extremely skilled. I wouldn't expect any less considering the unit he came from. "Black Hawk Down" gives him kind of a rough and frightening apprearance, but he was nothing but a gentleman the whole time I was with him. Highly recommended!
PAUL IS AN OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTOR,PERSON,AND AMERICAN. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND HIS TACTICAL RIFLE COURSE. BUT SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND TIME AND ATTEND THE INSTRUCTOR COURSE.
I have taken CSAT Tactical Rifle Instructor. Because we instructor students taught parts of the 2 day Tactical Rifle Course, I have a pretty good grasp of the difference between the two.
If you have a good set of basic skills with the rifle, you can take the 2 day course and come away with lots of good things to work on. If you are switched on and pay attention, you can pass the CSAT standards in the 2 day class.
If you want Instructor level training, the 6 day Instructor class goes into a lot more depth on how to teach techniques, run a line, develop lessons, etc.
You must pass the CSAT standards to get an Instructors cert but you have 6 days to do it, not just 2. (all of my class did it in 4 or less)
If you just want a tune up or 2 days of great instruction, do the 2 day class. If you really need or want Instructor level training, do the 6 day class.
Here is a great ARR of the CSAT Pistol instructor course.
It exemplifies my Tactical Rifle Instructor experiance.
You will not find a better instructor and very few with real world gunfighting lessons learned than Paul.
Paul is as good as it gets and you will quickly discover that Gunsite and TR pale by comparison.
