What's the most unusual gun you've seen someone use in a match?
This question was inspired by the poster who mentioned that he used a WWII P38 in a recent IDPA match. I am just curious what you have seen, or even used yourself that's out of the "norm".

If I remember right Bill Rudder (I think that's his name) at Frank Glover's The Range in Oxford, NC used a Luger once, that was maybe 8 or 10 years ago...
Ruger Ak in 454 for a idpa bug side match.
Desert Eagle in 50 AE, shot in a steel challenge match (loads were downloaded appropriately).

Softie, I used full hose corbons, but it was only 14 rounds.
Full house loads on Smoke 'n' Hope is more hazardous to the shooter than the spectators.

HK Mark23, civilian version. Although not as big as a "Deagle", still pretty darn big.
A "Metaba
Italian made semi-auto revolver in .357mag.

Saw the same thing here a few weeks ago.

A few years ago we had a guy show up at a 3 gun match with a Mk23, a SPAS 12, and a HK G3. I think he had watched too many movies. He has since upgraded to a Glock, a SLP and a AR-15 (i.e. tools that are better suited for practical shooting). Another time a shooter used a G3 (clone, PTR-91) for a 3 gun match, the next week he had it up for sale to fund an AR-10!
I have shot 3 gun with a .303 Enfield and with a SKS just to see how well they would do.
I didn't include the Halloween matches we used to run but we did have a gentleman use a .50 DE in the house with full power loads once. Put the poppers down straight away! I was a "Palestinian granite relocation specialist"one year (probably 2002) and shot the match with a semi auto Uzi carbine with the stock folded. The next year I shot it as the cop from Hill Street Blues with a Ruger Redhawk using .44 Specials and a OD field jacket.
I miss those matches, of course we had Neo clones from the Matrix but we had one competitor show up as The Shadow as well! He had a great costume even if he was only allowed to shoot one 1911 at a time...

Seen a guy use this same one this weekend at the IDPA 2011 Indoor Winter Nationals.
In college, used to shoot with a guy in Lincoln, NE that shot a Coonan .357. Strangest thing was that he had a bag full of reloads he would load from and freely mixed .357 and .38 special into his magazines! I was shooting a Kimber polymer that would only run with hot loads (185gr @ 12000fps) and my roomate shot a Delta Elite with full house 10mm loads. Made for some interesting fireballs during our Tuesday night indoor league!

I busted out the Model 1917 Enfield bolt Action for the rifle portion of a match once. I got a lot of odd looks but the thing is really accurate and I was the only one to get "Down Zero" in the rifle portion.

My time sucked

It was fun.
A Kimber 1911 that actually worked
There was a guy at the Larue Multi-Gun a couple of years back shooting a Garand. And shooting it quite well!
I saw a guy shooting a Glock 7! You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it costs more than you make in a month.
And it had a funny angle on the grip!

I shot an IDPA match last year with a Smith & Wesson M1917 revolver. First match I had ever shot with a wheelgun, after shooting 1911s or Glocks for the last 8 years. It was... interesting.
I saw a guy shoot an IDPA match years ago using a Webley .455 revolver.

my limited 10 gun

put a 18lb recoil spring on it right before the last match I was in, hilarity ensued...
A Callahan full-bore auto-lock.
I haven't seen this one, but a 100-round Beta Mag will easily fit the 170mm mag gauge. Someone could always show up with a 9mm AR15 pistol for a USPSA Open gun and not have to worry about having to make mag changes.
The only tricky part is a holster, but I'm sure one could be cobbled together.
My friend ran a luger once, and an M1 Carbine last week. The M1 did pretty well too.
Funny I was thinking a Webley would pop up in this inquiry.
they can be reloaded with moon clips right?
Break top, big slow bullets, sounds like a fun shoot.
.44 Magnum with full power loads at a level 3... chronoed in a factor at around 350 , if I remember correctly.
Micro UZI, shooting open.
A couple of Tanfoglios that actually worked
A Benelli that jammed
In my only 3 gun match with a a 5.45 upper on a Cav arms lower. Ruger p95, and an 870(bead sight, 100 yard shotgun hostage target with slug, it wasnt pretty), everybody died
I have personally run a M1carbine, a M1A, a Win 94 trapper in 45 Colt and my current favorite, a Kel Tec SUB 2000 in 9mm at carbine matches.
I have also run a SW 25-5 (45 Colt) and a J-frame in IDPA matches. It's a good idea to find out how good (or bad) you are with all your guns.
