Anyone one thinking about it, go ahead and do it. I was nervous, but the guys will help you out a lot.

I shot SSP Unqualified, still waiting on my score. I tried to hold my own with a glock 26, as I wanted to see how I could do with my carry gun. Not going to use it for money, but just for a fun competition I thought what the hell.

ETA, almost forgot. Guy KBed a G22 with reloads. That was a little interesting.

At the very LEAST its WAY better than going to a FUDD range, and its FUN too!

Definitely!

And to the OP, very nice on getting out. The first time can be a bit intimidating, but I encourage anyone interested in pistol shooting to try it out.

When you get your results, bet you do better than expected.

I thought we were going to get our results last night before 7. When they are posted, they will be posted here, under the 9/27/2009 IDPA match.

I shoot my classifier at Starry Range and classified for the first time there in ESP. They were cool people.

They are guys that are fun to be around. They dont talk down to you, and will teach you a lot if you listen.

The guy that updates the scores is out of commision for a while, so it is taking a little longer to get the scores up. I have been on the edge of my seat since the last stage to know my score.

I shot my 2nd USPSA match this last Sunday and I have to say everyone is very helpful and accomodating up here with new shooters. I also shot both of my matches with my G26 as it is my carry and I think it worked out surprisingly well. I'm addicted now ... my wife will not be happy lol.

For the last 3 years I've been meaning to try it out and have people have encouraged me to try. One of my new year's resolutions is to actually join and do it this year. Your post caught my eye. I'm glad you had fun, it's all the more encouragement for me to make time and get off my butt too.

My advice is to just do it. Find a match a local match, circle the date on your calendar. Get all of your gear together, so you have no excuses when the time comes. Make sure you follow all the safety rules, and have a fun time.

Yup. If you have no other Gun-Friends that are interested, definitely check out your HTF here at Arf. 90% of my matches and nearly all but about 3 of my shooting buddies are arfcommers. It gets addictive though. Before too long, simply plugging holes in paper at the range, with no draws, steel, moving, etc gets really old! Then you'll be searching for matches, shooting 2-5 a month, reloading on multiple Dillons, etc. It's a rough life.

Are you in SoCal or NorCal? In NorCal, there's a new shooter orientation at Sac Valley that'll take you through everything you need to know to get started. I highly encourage it.
