How big is the 10 ring on a target for CMP type shooting (20/10 prone, 10 sitting, 10 offhand) on a reduced course of fire conducted at 200 yards?
How about the X ring?
I would like to make some steel gongs of the same size.
Thanks
At our Garand matches, we use the SR-5 target (200 yards). 10 ring is 7 inches. X ring is 3 inches, and 9 ring is 13 inches.
Thanks! That sounds like the one. I measured the 9 ring at our last match and it was 13".
I appreciate the help.
Well, not exactly, but close. Depending on the stage you want to simlulate, the ring sizes can vary in terms of MOA such that the reduced range targets depend on the stage.
Here is a link to the dimensions, hope it helps. I too would like to make some new metal gongs for the club and would love to hear how that turns out for you.

If you want to convert the ring sizes to 200 yard to simulate the 300 yard stage, the listed dimension for the simulated 300 at 100 is 4.12" for the 9 ring, to move that out to 200, double it.
4.12 x 2 = 8.24" However....The exact 200 yard reduced target for the 300 yard stage should be 8.56" and is called the SR-42.
The small differences are due to the effect of the bullet diameter on scoring.
Bottom line, standing targets, sitting targets, and prone targets have different ring diameters for their respective stages when measured in inches or in MOA.
I was going to say huge when your in the pits, and tiny when your on the line....
