Shot a couple personal best scores yesterday
I think my new Creedmoor coat is helping. I shot a 271-5X in a Garand match yesterday, with a rapid prone score of 98-3X. Man that felt good! Everything just felt "right" while I was shooting it. Unfortunately, my slow prone score was an 89-2X. I don't know what I'm doing in slow prone, I must be changing my sight alignment. I started out with an X, then a 10, then an 8 and a 7 (I know I yanked the trigger on that one because I was frustrated). During the rapid stage, my NPA was perfect. I would shoot, take a breath, and the front sight would come right back to where it was on the previous shot without me having to do anything. My offhand score was an 85. I was hoping for a bit better here, but I'm sure it'll come with a bit more practice on finding the right hold.
For the Springfield match, I ended up shooting my AR, as I wanted to see how it was with the coat (these were my first matches with the coat). Ended up with a 285-4X, which again, I was more than pleased with. Scored a 97 in slow prone, 96 in rapid, and 92 in offhand. The AR just seems so much more natural to shoot with the coat, especially standing.
I think a little more practice, and dry-firing to find a good, comfortable hold with the Garand, and my scores should definitely improve. When you're prone, that coat just about locks in the rifle and it doesn't move!
Congrats!!! Well done!
