Impressed with my White Oak upper

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity (actually 2 months) I received my White Oak service rifle upper. Very impressed with the overall quality. Very nicely packed in the shipping box. Just a few clicks to get it zeroed and it shoots well. At 100 yds my groups were better than my bushmaster upper with a scope. Now need to buy some reloading components and shoot longer distances.

Congrats.

You will be happy.

John has some loads he recommends as a good starting point. You should take advantage since he knows the reamer very well.
The loads are very typical for mag length, for single feed it is still good to know his OAL starting point. BTW, now is the best time to measure your chamber and seating length.
You can then track wear and adjust your seating depth as you go.

Cheers.

Is it possible to get one decent performing load that feeds from the mag and works well to 600 yds? Is there a max bullet weight that can still be seated mag length?

77 grain Sierra or Nosler over 24.0 grains Reloder 15.

Agree. +/- 0.5 grains depending on your gun, brass, primer, neck tension, etc. For a mag length load, this is what John recommended as well.
Go try it and see how it does. Later on, you will want to experiment with the 80 grain single feed loads which will not fit the magazine but tend to perform better at 600.

Did you get a WOA or a WOP upper?

Just curious.....I have a WOA on order, but am thinking maybe upgrading.

I got the WOA with 1/4 MOA pinned rear sight. What more does WOP get you?

Krieger or Pac-nor barrel. Std with pinned sights I think.

My WOA on order is a flat top with pinned removable handle, 1/4 min sights

Called to ask a ? about barrel upgrade, and he said it was sched for build next day, so make up my mind!

Didn't take long to make up my mind.
