Which holster for 1911??
I'm new in 3 gun competition and I'm currently using the generic 1911 holster that came with my SA Trophy Match for He-Man competition. It's got great retention but isn't really a competition rig. I've been lookin at the CR Model A holster and a few others... WHAT ARE YOU USING? Thanks
I use a blade-tech DOH. I will take retention and protection of the handgun any day over speed.
A little extra retention (like Bladetech DOH) is good for 3-gun, usually, but some matches are less physical and a competition rig would work and be a little faster. So, know the match you are attending.

The speed thing is hogwash. I've pulled .68 sec draws from a DOH Bladetech and from a racy Ghost holster. Ghost is nice for its adjustability, but for 3-gun I'd go with the DOH. You will not be handicapped in any way.
thanks alot! I already have a blade-tech too, this simplifies my problem.
I have a Blade Tech with a Tek Lok so I can take it off when I don't need it. I also installed tension adjustment knobs from 3 gun stuff that allow you to crank it down if you want more retention when running and loosen it up for more speed. The knobs are $5 and well worth the price.
DOH ICE w/ teclock.
All my uspsa holsters, excpet for open are DOH or stingray.
+ 1 on a kydex rig. In 3 gun Ill take secure over speed as your draw is not where your winning or loosing a match. Dropping a gun out of the holster is though. I run bladetech DOH across the board. If it was a very physical match your could even go serpa
Hell...I shoot in the Open division and still use a Bladetech for retention as well:

If you really feel like you need retention in a big way go with a
