Since ammo prices are still high and hard to find in some areas, do any 3-gun comps. allow use of a 22lr AR or say, a Sig 522?

I've heard of some MD's allowing Junior shooters (like around 10-11 yrs of age) to use them, but never anyone outside of that age class.....

Shoot rimfire matches if you need to save money on ammo, I know Trapr is going to be having a rimfire division at his match this coming year (High Plains Shooting Challenge in OK).....3 gun is meant to be played with higher calibers...a huge portion of rifle shooting in 3 gun is being able to hit things far away, (something you can't do with a .22 SAFELY)

For .22lr rifle and pistol, you might check if anyone is running Ruger Rimfire Challenge or similar matches in your area.

We run a steel-only "Tactical .22 Rifle" match here twice a month. Half the match simulates long-range rifle using scaled-down reactive targets a la 3-gun at scaled-down distances, and the other half of the match is close-range hosing. This is actually remarkably good practice for 3-gun, relatively cheap, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Here is a video from our last match: VIDEO

What are you using for the flashers? If you made them and wouldn't mind sharing, please IM me the details.

One of our guys here made them... basically, look at the MGM Flash targets and R&R Self-Setter targets, and scale everything down to about 1/3 size.

Not any good ones.

That said, I do use 22's for practice.

The High Plains Shooting Challenge for 2011 will have a rimfire division, but that is an annual match. Shots to 100 yds with rimfire (300 yds centerfire).
