Starting prone, prairie dog ready (is that a common description? loaded, aimed, safety off, finger on trigger). From the 300 yard line, shoot X number of steel targets (I forget how many, probably 4). 8" or so gongs. Run to the 200 yard line, take a position over the top of a small fake roof, shoot the steel targets again. Run to the 100 yard line where there is a bunker built of railway ties. Shoot 4 paper targets at short range around the bunker (not visible from farther away). Enter bunker and engage the steel targets again.

Great test of precision and stamina. Very rare you get to run significant distance at full speed with a rifle and gear. Bit tough on ROs though. Since you couldn't leave a position without eliminating all the targets, some people spent all their time (180 second par time I think) popping away from there.

Seeing people frustrated at 300 at this stage made me feel that with shooters new to competition, like this match usually attracts, you should use more paper targets at long ranges. I know they are hard to score, get a couple dedicated guys on a 4-wheeler or golf cart. A newbie will shoot at a paper target and advance, not get stuck and embarassed. The more seasoned shooter will make the hits and actually get some points. You can also allow shooters to skip targets, but it takes a careful scoring method to figure out how to do this without some gamer taking advantage of it, while not ruining the match for someone who legitimately forgets about a target.

Blue Ridge Mtn '10 Cave Stage.

Unknown round count, unknown target count, unknown target location, unknown distance from start position to final firing position.

Not my video, but one of the few lucky enough to film it.

I never shot a blind stage but shooting in a cave would be fun.

The roller coaster stage a few years back at the SMM3G is one of my favorites. There was something like 26 targets. The thing did have brakes but you didn't want to use them. I saw a lot of people drop mags during the reload. Not my video - found it on youtube.

Had they not had those crappy .22s at the end (or at least some guns that worked) it would have been truly epic.

Stage 10 was great. I have to wonder how many more years the barn will sustain that kind of damage though!

There are a lot of great matches around, but if I could only shoot 1 it would be the BRM3G. There's no replacement for natural terrain.

Here's a clip of me on stage 10-http://www.youtube.com/user/bryan45acp?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/05AOWoOLfHQ

I'm sure the timber holding the thing up is fine... 'Replace the corrugated steel walls and it would be just like new.
Almost.
They could use cheap 4'x8' sheets of OSB or ???

Thinking ahead...I already have rooms booked at Park Mammoth for the 2011 BRM3G

Nothing too fancy, just a small one-stage match that I put together for some friends, but I liked it.
I did all the design, set-up, and even made all the targets and props myself. Since I built it,
I had to be the guinea pig and shoot first. Being in that hood at the beginning was really
disorienting!
