I haven't seen many places that offer this as a discrete program, but I'm interested in anyone's input who has taken a course.

ITI in San Antonio offers a course, and I actually signed up for it a few years ago. They canceled it due to lack of interest, though, so I have no idea what it's like. Scotti/VDI also offers a course. I don't know what theirs is like, but I have attended other training there and it was top notch. ITG in northern California also has a S/SD course in their syllabus.

I took a course that was available for a job I had a few years ago.

I will dig up the course materials and PM them to you.

I took the ITI course here in San Antonio. A few months ago. It's a good class.

Zedhead: that would be great. I'd really appreciate it.

cookhj: thanks, can you give me any kind of overview?

i think we did it as a 2 or 3 day class. you go over some recent terrorist bombings and what indicators the bombers presented and they pointed out mistakes that were made. then you learn how to do site surveys on your area/facility; essentially play the bad guy. then you do an exercise where you place your surveillance detection team and try to pick out the "bad guys". after that you do your AAR with the instructors and role players. it's not a lengthy course, but it does give you a good foundation of the basics.
