A high school senior at my kid's school lost his life this past weekend
Last night we attended a celebration of his life and a prayer service at Byron Nelson High School. By all accounts, this was a tremendous young man, a selfless Christian, and an inspiration to many. His twin brother was in the car with him when Josh lost control of his car at 5:30 pm, as they were returning from attending a BNHS girl's soccer game. So far, it appears another driver may cut him off, causing Josh to lose control. He was Life-flighted to JPS Hospital, but died hours later. His twin brother (who was the passenger in the same car) was treated and released.
It’s back to school Monday morning for students and teachers at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, just two days after a car crash killed a popular student.
Joshua Hernandez, 18, was heading home from a soccer game with his twin brother, Jesse, on Saturday. Joshua lost control of the car, crashed, and was killed.
Students return to school mourning classmate.
Please tell your kids to be careful driving, and especially as we head into this prom season. Josh would have been a member of the first-ever senior class to graduate from Byron Nelson High School. As I watched this gathering at the BNHS gym, I remarked to my wife that some of those high school basketball players will likely be pallbearers in a few days. What a way to end their school year.

When I was in Highschool we lost kids every year.
If you live in the Houston area then send your teenage driver through this
PDS. Very cheap and some kids are free. You do NOT have to have a performance car to attend. A wide varity of cars show up. My daughter has gone through this class and in a much more confident driver. This class teaches real world driving skills in a controlled environment.
Sorry to hear about your loss.
Heard about this on the news. Terrible tragedy, but good to hear he was a Christian. My oldest son just turned 16 Nov 30th. Scares me to death him out on the roads.
We will keep the family in our Prayers.
Sorry man.
Just had to deal with a tragic loss of a teen last week here in Wylie. It's not easy trying to explain losses of this magnitude to your kids. My son has already had to deal with so much loss already. But he's coping well, we raised him right. I'm just thankful it's not my kid when I hear these stories.
I thought about you, geegee, when I heard the news... I thought I remembered your kiddo up in that area but couldn't remember if that was y'all's school or not... just tragic... their first senior class... please know you and yours are in our prayers... gonna be a rough few weeks ahead...

What does that have to do with anything?
It means that he was saved and his eternal sould is not damned.

Seriously. As a non-believer, I still wouldn't be coming in here and pissing on all the walls. Then again, mom and dad did impart to me some sense of civility. A kid lost his life at too young of an age. Truly a tragedy.
There are a lot of asshole drivers out there who make the roads dangerous for everyone else.

Thank you.
Stories like this make me go home and give my kids extra hugs
