Red or Green Light Bulbs... What does it mean? PICS ADDED

Does it mean anything when people replace their regular house lights by the driveway with a red or green lighbulb? There's a house in my neighborhood that has a red light sometimes and a green light other times. Don't say it's Christmas because this has been going on since July. But I figure it's code for something. Could it be drug related or a whore house thing?

Sometimes you live in the red light district.

That's my guess.

My kids when they were little had maybe a dozen colors of lightbulbs. They liked to randomly switch the things around, use color combinations, etc.

The living room actually looks kind of neat under orange light.

mexican

Red, white and green are the colors of their flag. I have some neighbors that do all 3 colors on their houses.

Put one up in your house too. See who shows up.

Seriously, drug dealing. I know it sounds weird but popular houses tend to get busy and the dealer probably started that little trick to keep his house quite during certain hours.

that makes sense. one of my neighbors has the red and green thing going on, and they happen to be brown.

When I lived in Lubbock, we kept a green bulb in our porch light, as did the other brothers of our fraternity, because our colors where green and white...so there is that...

Kinda lame, looking back now.

Here are some pics to show you what I'm talking about...

Day time

Night time

The drug thing seems the most likely, followed by maybe the boating/navy thing (please explain further) or the color blind thing (explain too please).

Politely, ask your neighbor what occasion are the red and green lights for. That your curiosity will be satisfied.

That looks like the unit on one side has grren lights and the other unit has red lights.

I'd put my life's savings on boating. You see, according to USCG Navigation Rules red lights are to be on your boat's port (left) side while green lights are to be on your boat's starboard (right) side. Looks like the red lights are on the left side of the house and green lights are on the right side.

Pink Panther says this case is closed.

I'm retired LEO from another state.
I had a case several years ago, in which a drug dealer would switch the color of his porch light bulb when he was holding and open for business. Of course, this was prior to the invention of cell phones. (Ouch! Telling my age.)

When I lived the barracks, the WM across the parking lot used this combo when she was..."Hanging out" red meant she was busy, and green was more like open for business. I guess it was a little more discreet then the "now serving number...." sign

Is that place a duplex? If so it could be the two neighbors are tired of the others friends knocking on their doors. So the conspired to put up diff colored lights to let each others friends know which door to knock on. "hey man it's Dave! You said knock on the door with the red light."

House in the picture is "under way" and moving away from your vessel. Post a "No Mooring" sign in your yard.

Go ring the door bell and ask them how much to party for an hour.
If they ask you WTF you're talking about, tell them you want to score a dime. I'm sure it's one or the other.
