 How long does it take mail from Austin to Houston?

Its called 3 day state. In theory any piece in the lower 48 should take no longer than 3 days to get anywhere in the lower 48. In theory :)

depends on how you send it.It once took two weeks for a large padded envelope to get from austin to houston that was sent parcel post. A letter or large envelope usually takes one day

If you get it in the mail at the main station (I think it is out on 290/183 back where NatSemi used to be) in Austin it will be almost anywhere in Texas in two days and in Houston and Dallas almost always in a day. If you mail from the Lee Road station in Houston (24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a manned lobby and a real, live, unstable postal worker creature behind the desk every minute of that time -- one of 17 I think left in the US) at IAH, it will be in Austin by 10AM if you get it there by 8PM the previous evening. I am very impressed with those folks.
