Legal to Ship AR Barrel to Canada?

Is it legal to ship a 14.5 inch AR barrel to an individual in Canada? Thanks.

It is perfectly legal for your Canaadian buyer to recieve it. The only hurdle is he'll have to pay %15 of the retail value in tax.

Unfortunately, it is against the law for you to ship it out of the US without an export permit from the US State Dept. If they would give you one, the buyer could supply you with a Canadian import permit to support it. Problem is you won't get it for a 14.5 inch AR-15 barrel. They don't allow the export of NFA items to civilians.

When did this NFA 'export to Canada' ban happen? I must have lucked out getting a brand new Mossberg 590 w/14" bbl. That was a few years back I believe. It would explain why I could never find a Colt LE6921 the past few years though. Had to settle for a LE6920.

Is this still a problem if the flash hider is permenantly attached making it over 16 inches according to our laws?

As far as Canadian law is concerned if you are licensed to own, you can import. ALl you have to do is declare it, contribute to public piggy and show "useful and crime preventing" registration certificates. Thats it. Barrel ? No problemos amigo. IF CBSA giver you crap, just show them your firearms license and say sayonara.

State Department, aka "Foggy Bottom" demands that an application for export permit to be filled with them for export to Canada or any other part of the world. WHy is that ? Well, Canada is a terrorist heaven. Some stuff can not be exported at all. What stuff ? 50 caliber rifles and ammo including reloading stuff for 50 cal. Why is that again. Because Diane Frankenstein had a brain fart that terrorist will launch a siege on Detroit from Canadian side.

Hope I'm not hijacking your thread, but couldn't you ship a CAR (16") barrel and cut it down, recrown and thread it? Should be able to get an export licence and it'd only take about 1/2 hour machine time and, voila! all done.

I regularly do this on rifles I import from the States as we in the UK are also not restricted to a barrel length of 16".
