i haven't heard of anyone doing it, but i think with the population density we have if there were gold it would be gone by now.................

Well, I watch Gold Rush. I admire the spirit put forth in the show. I also understand that it's mostly staged with made up drama.

I upgraded my cable and now have the Outdoor network. They have some great gun shows but I watched a show today called "Gold Fever"

The host looks normal but he sounds like a kook ! Anyway, he was walking around the aquaducts in Los Angeles.... He's picking dirt out of the cracks on the bottom of the waterways and panning it. He's finding gold ! Then he was in N.C. panning dirt from a construction site in the city.... Gold !

Finally he goes to home depot and buys 3 bags of all purpose sand for 6 bucks. Brings it home and runs it through a small sluice in his garage, pans it and ends up with 20 to 30 dollars of gold.

I gotta say, I was impressed.

So now I'm looking online at the geological surveys for our state. There is no measurable deposits to speak of but gold is everywhere in small amounts. There is a site that talks of gold having been brought out of the old mines in Franklin. I found another that tells of gold in PA. Much has been found in the Windgap area. I'm right smack between the two. So I'm thinking.... Give it a try. A pan is only eight bucks.

I think the only panning in new jersey is at the beach for someone's lost wedding ring. Lol

You have to call and ask THEM in Trenton.
They tax pan constantly.
