WTB. Mosin in SJ
"Where To Buy"
So i recently found i needed a Mosin Nagant. Im looking for one on the shelf. I've never held one or shot one, (sort of a gun noob) so im looking to FF one before i buy.
Know any place that has them in stock? The kicker, has to be in SJ.(south of rt30) I'm south, way south, and dont have much free time.
Worst case would be to order from Aim and do a transfer, but im anal and want to know what im getting into.
Thanks in advance. Scott
IMHO, buying anything off the shelf in NJ is wasting $$.
I have seen what I would describe as "fair" condition Mosins on the shelf at places like Cheyenne for $160, plus NICS, plus tax. You can get one in excellent condition online from Bud's for $130, free shipping, $35 transfer fee, save $$ and get a much better condition rifle. You can get the same "fair" condition Mosin available at Cheyenne online for $90.
All it takes is an afternoon and cleaning supplies. Keep in mind that we are talking about 70-year-old rifles that were packed away by conscripts at the end of WWII. They are covered with cosmoline (a oxygen barrier and preservative) and need to be completely bench stripped, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled. Don't be intimidated. It is so easy a drunk Russian can do it.

And it is a lot of fun. And you get to see how it works.
Lots of members here have done it. We are here to help.
My friend ordered 1 from AIM. took a while to clean it up but he loves it
Leaning towards Buds now, thanks. Cant beat free shipping. I didn't want to end up with a $110 dollar hat stand, the reason for my concern. I will soon be able to protect myself from Thuds with my smelly Mosin.

drive to cabela in hamburg pa or see when athe next gun show at the phila expo center is., I got mine from a fellow site member for $120 hex 1927 tula. I stripped it down with a multi master tool and refinished it , I think it can out pretty damn good
Just Sports in Cape May Court House had a Mosin Nagant 91/30 in decent condition last time I was there. (609) 465-5720. They are at 21 west mechanic street. Cape may court house. 08210. Good luck.
Best bet to pick one up locally at a decent price is probably a gun show. Philly Armory show is next weekend and the Expo Center show is Feb 11-12.

I have never saw any at cheyenne mtn.You are south so try tips hardware. they might have one but price will be high!Sarco in pa would have a lot to choose from but the ride would be a long ride for you.
Bud's online, no shipping charges on any firearm, $120 + $35 = $155, no tax.
First pic is what it looked like before I got brake cleaner on the shellac. Second pic after I had to strip it.

Also, very important: you need to invest in a Mosin Nagant front-sight adjustment tool. Available in most basements or garages for less than $0.
ETA: Actually, a "proper" Mosin Nagant front-sight adjustment tool would incorporate a blunted 10-penny nail in lieu of the punch, and two beaten blocks of lumber, with the brass 70-year-old hammer. (That was my father-in-law's father's hammer, shall I say grandfather-in-law).
