POMPTON LAKES — When Pompton Lakes police seized Darren Richardson’s car on a rainy September afternoon, they told him it was headed for an impound lot. When they returned it three weeks later, he says, the 2004 BMW belonged in a junk yard.

Richardson — who served two years in prison for a drug charge and admits he "doesn’t trust cops" — began arguing with Agosto(the Police Officer), the reports said.
"The way they were acting, their whole demeanor, and the way I was antagonizing them, I knew they were going to mess with me," Richardson said.
Richardson was initially charged with evidence tampering and resisting arrest, while his passenger was charged with making terroristic threats against police.

So if you or your car smells like "Raw Marijuana" you probably dont want to go with ANTAGONIZING OR TERRORISTIC THREATS AGAINS THE POLICE, maybe then local, federal and drug experts won't take your car apart. LoL. only if the video of the motor vehicle stop was on here, then reasonable citizens would realize why the search was sooo extensive.

If they messed up his car, he's entitled to a replacement.

This is BS. Does he have any recourse? I guess he could sue.

I am not saying the car should not be returned to its original condition, but he was not INNOCENT, he just wasn't in possession of the drugs. I know there is some distrust of police officers but two different narcotic dogs hit on the car, something was there the cop was just to late.

Yes, that may be....but he was NOT in possession of anything when they stopped/impounded his car.
I dont have any mistrust of LEO's. Everyone makes mistakes, just gotta admit when you did.

OK, if it was Pablo Escobar, I'd think he had it coming. Being the paper didnt make him sound like a major dealer or anything of the sort, I have to say they law has NOTHING on him. BEACUSE THEY DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING ON HIM!

He wasn't guilty of Possession, but did commit the following offenses, Obstruction and Disorderly Conduct.

I'm OK with that.
