My wife told me about this yesterday, maybe the same day...

Tennessee tourist arrested for bringing pistol into 9/11 Memorial
Last Updated: 5:54 AM, December 29, 2011
A tourist from Tennessee waltzed into one of the most secure sites in the city — and politely asked a cop
if she could check her weapon.
Instead, she was dragged out in cuffs.
Now, Meredith Graves, 39, is facing at least three years in prison for thinking New York’s gun laws are
anything like those in the Bible Belt.
Graves, a fourth-year medical student, showed up at the memorial on Dec. 22 to pay her respects during a
trip north for a job interview.
She didn’t realize that the loaded .32-caliber pistol in her purse would be a problem until she saw a sign
at the site that read, "No guns allowed,” sources said.
The interesting part, my wife asked me - "so all gun laws are not the same between states, cities?"
I love her but this brainwashing happens with most in the NYC Metropolitan area.

Why have a sign that says "No Guns" at the memorial if no guns are permitted in the city?
She could have done her thing and left without incident if she had just shut the fuck up.

OK. I thought it was there to keep terrorists away. If they see a sign saying "no guns allowed," they will leave and practice their terrorism elsewhere.

I believe even LEO can't carry there.

Im guessing PAPD or private security. I don't know, I tried to visit but didn't have a ticket to get in.
Ask VA Tech how those "No Gun Zones" worked for them

Sure is a great-sounding cliche... wonder how true it rings when you're sitting there at the defendant's table, getting sentenced to a mandatory term of incarceration... "Well, at least I was tried by twelve"

It's a question of percentages.... the MINISCULE possibility that I'll be accosted at the 9/11 Memorial, vs. the very LIKELY PROBABILITY that my illegally-concealed weapon will be discovered at said memorial.
I'm not questioning the decision of somebody who, say, needs to travel into the Bronx at zero-dark-thirty (SO broken down on the CBE, for example), and decides to carry. That's an entirely different situation. But, somebody knowingly walking in to a very public, very high-profile place, with the mantra of, "better... 12... 6!".... is, IMNSHO, a fucking moron.
