good spot for camping in wharton?
A buddy and myself are thinking of heading up into wharton this weekend to do a two day one night bug out with just the packs, no tents, no sleeping bags, etc... That stuff will be in the truck just incase It gets way to cold or that snow rolls in that I have been hearing rumors of. Basically just going to do a little shake down on the gear then after it passes this test we will do an extended weekend bug out up in the pocono's. Just wondering if there are any good spots worth camping at... Also curious if we will run into many hunters up there.... I would prefer not to come out of the woods with an arrow sticking out of me

... Any thoughts, comments?

^––- You'll likely see hunters.
Lower Forge Camp Site. It only has an outhouse, everything else should be packed it. Parking is not permitted at the site, the parking area is roughly 1/3 of a mile from the site. The area boarders a river and is usually abandoned.
I don't know how much you know about NJ State Forest camping: You need a permit for the night. No Guns, Alcohol, Dogs, Drugs; hookers are OK.
The Ranger station where you get the permit is on Route 206 just north of Atsion Lake. There is a dirt road next to the ranger station. To get to lower forge follow the dirt road and go over the river on a small bridge (roughly 1-1.5 miles). After crossing the bridge take your first left. Follow this road (1/2 mile). You will see a sign for Lower Forge Camp Site. The parking is on the right, the road leading to the site is on the left.
It's been a number of years so the distances above are estimations based on memory.
I would check with the ranger station to ensure the site isn't being used by a boyscout troop for the night(s) in question.
Good Luck and enjoy.
A little north of the ranger station on 206 is the Pic-a-Lilly Pub, they have some of the best wings in South Jersey.
Enjoy
Beaver branch on 679 has a manual water pump as well as out houses. The pink trail skirts the creek if you have a purifier.
Beware of chiggers and wear some orange. Have fun!
RustyPelican, specs on the girl tent please. Two person?

Other than the lighthearted goof about the girl I meant every word. What's your issue

Jeez––- actually the joke was well taken here. She is an attractive GF; and so is the tent.
Lugerman - I may have no electrical power but I am still here - for the time being.
Relax guys the weather is really taxing us all.
Thanks for the replies fellas, and pics.... We pushed the outing back to next weekend. weather should be a little more hospitable then.
