Whole lot of

A man has been jailed after he telephoned Lincolnshire Police to say he was pleased one of their officers had been shot.
Woodward, who made the call from West Road in Bourne, gave his name and address during the call and he was arrested a short time later.

Apart from the loon factor what law would he have broken to warrant arrest ?

Edit didn't read the article: Offensive phone call.

Second question then: could he be arrested if he published broadcast his opinion like that ?

What a crack pot he is, can't quite understand why he was jailed, but I like the idea that there are charges that CPS can bring for such actions, now can we use the same laws on our Muslim community who demonstrate their pleasure at our service peoples deaths in the sandbox, or does this new set of "putting people in their place" laws only apply to British Christian people??
