Oh you know, they seem to find their way here, either through their own volition or through recommendation from one of their own who's already infiltrated us........and then start talking cobblers and bringing their daftness with them.
Next thing you know the place has been taken over by wannabe's ith HMRs AUGs with 20x scopes, Mini 14's and Armi Jäger M16's.
Then they start trying to fit in by referring to AR's as NBR's instead of EBR's (when really none of us even call them that).

Have to nip it in the bud you know
This place is more hardcore

It's not just about being hardcore....

AR15.COM, the clue is in the name.... Once a haven for AR shooters who would actually shoot their guns in competitions....

Let's not dilute it too much with all this bollocks being dragged in from you know where....

I have no problem with people coming into the forum and wanting to learn.

I think we have accept a bit of naiivity and recognise that we were all new to this at some point.

What I don't want to see is the forum become exclusive and unwelcoming. If it does that then we become no better than the the UKPSA who we so readily berate for being unwelcoming and singleminded.

If this was www.CSR.com then a degree of exclusivity might be expected, but it's not and adopting the exclusive attitude that has thus far been the preserve of the UKPSA means that the UKHTF may be in danger of disappearing up its own arsehole.

We need to edumacate people and attract them to the sport, not tell the to sod off everytime they dare put their head above the parapet to ask in an effort to fit in.

No, we need to tell 'em to sod off.
They've had time to look around and get a feel for the place before they jump in with their GSG's etc.

Plenty of other forums out there to talk bollocks on.
Here's one for instance

This place isn't exclusive to CSR or ARs, be nice if it was though, but there's plenty on here who don't partake and that's ok, doesn't mean they have to talk shite though!

Y'know, I'm always surprised at how much GSG love there is on this site! The Americans love the damn things, and AUGs, and .17 HMR. This site has a section for everything. Not long ago they even opened a section for us to discuss our Mini-14s and other Ruger products. If you wanted to learn a thing or two about GSGs or AUGs, this site is far better placed to help than the BBS.

Fair comment DP.

On the other hand, if we are not interested in a thread then we don't have to read it, or respond to it.

If a thread generates little or no interest it will drop off the end of the page with very few responses and disappear into cyberspace..... but what tends to happen in reality is that people pile on which keeps bumping the thread to the top of the page.

We've all done it at some stage.

Why only competition shooters?

So, purely rhetorically, those of us who shoot AR's (regularly), but don't grace the green grassy ranges & punch paper, are unworthy?

No slight meant, just an observation.

If .22's don't count then there's little point.

So just to be clear: it must be an AR, it must have a calibre other than .22 & you must shoot in competitions - I just want to be 100% clear on the criteria for membership of ARFCOM

I'll get my coat

Nope, not even a .22 M-4gery...

In fact last time I shot an AR was in 1987, it was a really old one with no forward assist.

Is this where I get banned and have to buy a HMR for proper long distance shooting?

You don't *buy* a HMR, some watery tart rises out of a lake and hands it to you, or you pull it out of a rock or something. Iran is only developing nuclear weapons because they daren't risk handling the awesome destructive power of .17 HMR

Unpossible. Even the act of pointing has an effect similar to that scene in the Indiana Jones film where they open the Ark and all the Nazis melt

Definitely not, and double definitely not if it's on a .22

Moreso, it's even worse if it doesn't have a bipod but has a Grip Pod instead.
And that doesn't even come close if it has one of those stupid VFG's that springs open to become a bipod.

So come on, lets see your .22 AR15 without a bipod, Transformer VFG, Israeli or airsoft tat and no UTG cak either

Why don't we have a separate ".22 competition rimfire thread"? Then when you reach your tipping point for airsoft tat and walt poses you can lock or delete the entire thread as you see fit without damaging the awesome UK picture thread.

If we did that there'd be only about 6 of us that posted in it

How about a Walts and bunny bashers uber cool looking .22 with cheap crap pic thread?
That would be inundated

I've just seen a pic of it and it doesn't have any of those things I mentioned , but.......it has a sniper grip with a palm rest

ETA: that was a pic from 2009, so it may well have been cakified since then

Another top classic thread from the people that bought you AR butt-hurtedness.
