Congrats.

I drew Unit 13. Not a deer to be found. In fact, the entire area seemed to be abandoned by all wildlife. Saw two crows and a rabbit the entire weekend.

Now, when should I be expecting my jerky?

Still need to figure out how to make it. I cooked some tenderloin steaks tonight and they were amazing.

1. Slice thin
2. Hang until dry

Wife picked up a dehydrator at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Slice it 1/4 inch thick, sprinkle some garlic salt on both sides, a little pepper and dehydrate for six hours.

My favorite is with chopped green chili smeared on the slices before you dehydrate.

I think I'll try doing some in the oven set to it's lowest settings. I'm not too comfortable with the idea of just hanging it outside. It was 80 down here over the weekend ...

Unit 37. High winds, no sign of anything. Last day, calm and warm. Heard 3 shots taken all day. It really pissed me off to walk through oak and ash thickets and find deer tracks and scat on top of my footprints from the previous few days.
