Our friend Rue disappeared from the vicinity of County Road 780 north of Jonesboro on Wednesday evening, 11 April 2012. The dogs run around doing there own thing since there's lots of space to roam out here, but they have never missed a night at home. We left the house at about 6:30 and returned at a little after 8:00pm. A neighbor down the street who runs everyday says she remembers them both coming out to bark and run beside her as they do each day. She said she was out between 6:30 and 7:00 which means Rue had to have been taken around that time. Thinking she was stolen is of course worst case scenario, but when we got home our lab was missing her collar. I had taken both dogs to the vet that afternoon and had seen the lab wiggle out of her collar as she tried to avoid getting taken back to be weighed. My thought is they tried to take both dogs and she managed to get away.
Rue is a mix of who knows what. Most people think she's a shepherd but she really looks more like a small Belgian Malinois. She weighs 40 pounds and had a red collar on with rabies tag when she left the house. She has a chronic mange that puppies always get from mom but that doesn't present any symptoms of the dog is healthy as a pup. Rue wasn't healthy so it shows up. She has to have medicine every night or her hair will start falling out in a hurry. It gets worse when she is stressed.
I am a wreck. I am knocking on doors, posting fliers, filing a police report, driving up and down roads and walking every pasture I can find. If you might know if any areas that dogs are commonly sold or where people go for less kind things like fighting them or whatever else, I sure would appreciate any tips. I will gladly pay $200 to get her back home without questions asked. If you'd cross post this on your Facebook or other social media, that would be awesome. Those websites can sometimes do crazy things. I just want my friend back.
I hope you find your pup soon.

Hopefully your pet was chipped and will turn up at a vet or shelter
