I can't believe I only just now discovered the Hobbes shooting range.
A buddy of mine mentioned it last week and today we went up there to shoot. Very nice for a free range. It took us about 15 minutes to get on a lane, and after that is was only us a few other people. Finally got a chance to test my long range AR15 with some Black Hills 75gr ammo, and I learned that I need more practice

Overall had a great time and met some other shooters who were really friendly. One of them let me shoot a mag through his Kimber Raptor II. Fantastic place to shoot.
x2. but sometimes there are some pretty reckless shooters out there, so just be careful and always keep an eye on what's going on around you.
How far can you shoot there? I want to find a nice place I can shoot out to 800-1000 at sometime, not that I'd hit anything

its a 100 yard range with target posts marked at 25, 50, 75, 100 yards
There used to be quite a few bullet holes in the ceiling above the tables. It's a nice range, but as mentioned before, some of the shooters' safety habits are lacking.

yeah, for a while there were bullet holes in everything out there: benches, roof, the post where the sign-in sheet is......
its usually not bad.....but when the fat, bald guys with the AKs and 13 kids apiece show up, its time to GTFO of there

That ain't no lie!
I was walking back from the 100 yard line once and some dipshit with a tricked out AR was pointing it down range towards me and looking through his scope.

Yeah, I almost bladed.
That was the only problem I've had though. Lots of inexperienced people though. Which I don't mind helping out or giving friendly advice too, especially when it's safety related, but you definitely gotta pay attention to everyone.
One of the fellows that was out there was telling us about a gang of Mexicans which stacked up four or five deep on a bench. A female was behind them wearing twin Hi-Points in shoulder holsters, and was gangster shooting over their heads. Needless to say, he got the fuck out of there.
