Have an acquaintance who asked me about selling a couple of Morgan silver dollars, and I don't know enough about them to come up with a fair price. I am confident I can come up with a fair price strictly based on melt and silver content, but want to see if there is any numismatic value so no one gets screwed on the deal. I am hoping that someone local has a place or two to recommend for a fair valuation.
Precious metals are funny animals....
Determining a "fair" price, for me at least, can be tricky....
First, I would look to see what APMEX is currently BUYING them for:
APMEX
Then, i would look on fleabay, and probably end up selling them there/(or on the pm section of EE.
It has been my experience with local shops, that 9 out of 10 will try to bend you over in various degrees...
Do you know what years and mint marks? The 1921 ones aren't as valuable as the 1800's.
I have use
Stanley's in North Little Rock a few times over the years and I can tell you I have never dealt with better people. They are polite and most importantly FAIR. You will deal with Mr Stanley directly.
Sell on eBay, you'll get a fair market price for them....good pictures are a must, though
Several years ago I had dealings with a guy named Gene Johnson from Hot Springs. He always seemed to be fair. You can Google his name for a number.
