Getting close to this years beekeeping class. I took them last year and really enjoyed them. There is a lot to learn at theses. Its worth the $5.00. I think i will be taking them again this year.
Class i got mny first two hives this past year. At first it seams like a huge under taking. There is a lot to learn. But its very easy to get into and not as bad as it seams. you can do as much or little as u want with them. Just wanted to post it for u guys thinking of getting into it.

I'll probably be checking out the Feb 13th class. I took a full term class when I was going to school in California, and I loved it.
this was my first year. the 2nd year is when u start to get honey. this past year was not a good year for beekeeps here in NWA. the wet spring then the hot dry summer did not help. normal years they say u get 40-60 pounds of honey per hive on average. we have them in a fenced backyard in our garden. then dont bother the kids or people next to us. they really help get u more crops out of ur garden as well.

I'm a new beekeeper. 2nd year but I do have an observation hive in my deer camp.
thats pretty cool. my friend has a show hive at his work in the back room. its fun to watch them go around.

fwiw, I didn't make the hive but bought it from bonterrabees.com on special discount
Just a heads up. The class starts tomorrow (30th) You can keep bee's in the city very easy. We have people right next door with no problems at all. If they could not see the hives they would not know we had them. They even keep bee's in New York city on top of the big buildings. If you think you might want to get into it its worth going to.
