Christmas Edition 9" 300 Blackout w/pics.
Posted this in the SBR forum but I figured I'd share it here with my fellow Arkansas arfcommers also...
Been gathering parts for a while and finally had time to assemble them today after the Christmas chaos had subsided.
On to the good stuff:
9" Delta Co. Arms barrel. Melonited. M4 cuts. Threaded 5/8x24.
Anvil Arms flattop w/M4 cuts
YHM Lo-pro gas block
Spikes pistol length melonited gas tube
DD Omega X 7"
Denny's Super Duty f/a bcg
YHM 7.62 QD fh
YHM 7.62 SS Phantom
SBR'd Stag lower with Sopmod, MIAD, enhanced trigger guard, blah blah.
Slapped the Aimpoint on for function testing. It will be getting some sort of 1x4 in a Larue mount eventually.
Tested it using Gunn Ammo 220gr subs. It functioned perfectly suppressed and un-suppressed. Not a single hiccup.
THAT'S SEXY

very very nice sir
I like looking at it, but I want to hear it :D
looks like u were a good boy this year.
Thats badass. Id love to get into the SBR game.

I have been looking at the exact barrel. How quiet is it with the can? I have a phantom QD as well.

I'd say it's a little quieter than un-suppressed .22lr.
I honestly expected it to be quiter but I'm still very pleased with it.

I figured it'd be quieter than that, especially with subs. I was debating a 300 BO upper vs another 308 AR upper set up specifically to suppress.
Sexy
Ive seen this gun in person, even held it. Nice nice setup. I will be stopping the shop next week so you can help me start mine

Very Nice..
With sub sonic ammo mine is WAY quieter than an Unsuppressed .22, in fact the bullet impact is louder than than the gun firing. I would say its only marginally louder than a suppressed .22

Agreed. Must not have been subsonic ammo. I've shot mine (16" T/C Contender) with titanium YHM Phantom side by side with 16" suppressed AR15-22 shooting subsonic ammo and the difference in sound between the two was almost indistinguishable.
This was 220gr subs, allegedly. Gunn Ammo.

I'm gonna try some Remington 220gr next and see if there is a difference.
Maybe I'm underestimating the sound reduction. I'll shoot it again this weekend and make a comparison with .22lr.
That is very nice looking. Gratz!!

Any magazine issues so far like feeding problems? Seems this was one of the last remaining "bugs" to be worked out for the BO.
No feeding issues with the Pmag 20rd or GI 20rd (with factory ammo).

This would be very accurate depiction
Well, I decided to take the plunge. Ordered an 8" Noveske barrel and some parts to build an upper. Hopefully I'll be shooting it this weekend...

Well, as much fun is the 300 BO is to shoot, I don't really have a use for one. But I am looking to either covert my 556 SPR to a 6.5 or build a new upper some time this year.
Well, I shot some Remington 220gr subs yesterday with the same results. It's just not that quiet.
I'm starting to think that my expectations were too high about how quiet this thing was gonna be.
Planning on shooting it wet today and see if that helps.

Have somebody else shoot it while you stand back a few feet. Out in the open if you can.
Its possible you're hearing bolt noise mixed with the report and its throwing you off a bit.
My 9mm AR is the same way. To me, while shooting, its loud enough to make me go WTF... but from 10' away is sounds like a stapler

I'll try this.

I have a TiRant .45 on a UMP clone and handguns and love it and am thinking hard about getting a big bore upper this year with suppressor, I don't have a strong favorite yet but I like the .300 and the .458
Well, all my parts are here. Now to try and find the time to get them together...

LOL, the kids actually took a nap at the same time today so I got it together. Pics to follow...

Late to the party with pics. Thinking about ordering an Osprey 9mm can to save weight. Currently has an AAC 7.62 SD.
All I will shoot with this gun is sub-sonics.

Well, it runs great and very quiet too. I'd compare it to standard velocity .22 through a can. The upper I picked up didn't fit my SBR'd lower very well so I just swapped it out with another I had. Now the fit is much better. It did not run subs without the can, which is what i expected. So far I'm very happy.
Mine runs subs without the can

Yeah but your special!
What buffer are you guys running? I'm just using a standard carbine one.

Got any good subsonic loads that work with your YHM suppressor. been 3 months and I am still waiting on my $200 bribe to the ATF to come back so I can pick mine up.

I don't reload so it's all been factory subs so far. Remington & Gunn.
They've both worked great.

That's what I figured on the buffers. Right now I'm running a standard CAR buffer. If it eventually gets its own lower, I'll spring for a different buffer.
It's funny how not all stripped uppers are the same. I picked up one of the only one's Midway had in stock - a DSA. I've used them before with no problems. Well, it didn't like my RRA SBR'd upper. Too tight a fit. I don't think it was ligned up properly as well, as the bolt would "stick" on 2 attempts to chamber a round. I had to tear it down and swap the upper with another I had. The YHM one I had fits like a glove.
