I started a thread earlier about my wife was offered a promotion with her company that would require us to move to Arkansas, she has found a few houses she like through out the state and now has found one in Washington Co. The property is about seven acres or so, would i be able to shoot on the property legaly as long as it was done safely. What does the economy look like in the area, crime schools etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All of the crime schools are in Pine Bluff or Little Rock. Although there may be a satalite campus in Blytheville.

My wifes territory would be the entire state of Arkansas, so she is looking all over for homes.

Respectfully to all the other areas of our great state, the Northwest corner of Arkansas is (IMO) one of the best places to live. The economy here is doing very well. Hea;th care in the area is top notch. There are always new businesses coming to the Fayetteville, Bentonville and Rogers areas, in large part due to the fact that Wal-Mart's national HQ is in Bentonville. The public schools are some of the best in the state. You also don't have any shortage of hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, etc in the area.

But I may be biased. Oh and you'd better be a Hog fan.

Hope I'm not too late, but I moved to Fayetteville when I was 4 years old and my father's job transfered him there. I ended up going through all the public schools, and decided to attend the University of Arkansas as well. Having recently graduated and moved away I must say it is a place I truly miss. The hills of the Ozarks in the fall are a beauty that many people will never get to see. The NW corner is quite unlike the rest of Arkansas; it is the hub of some of the largest corporations in the nation and world. I would venture to say the northwest area of the state is economically superior and stable compared to MOST of the rest of the state. Crime is virtually nonexistent and the only "bad" part of town is the area south of the university campus (that is just typically the lower income area)...everything else is very nice and safe. Public schools there are excellent and Fayetteville High School has an incredible AP program (though some of the teachers I believe have retired). There are tons of great local businesses and restaurants and the farmers market during the summer is certainly a great thing to experience too. Just about 30 minutes north is Beaver Lake which is a great lake to hang out if you have a boat or know anyone with a boat.

Dickson Street is a fun little place for night and weekend entertainment; it is much like a very scaled down version of Sixth St. in Austin (with more class I'd say though) with bars and restaurants lining the street. The Walton Arts Center is right in the middle and they often get a variety of plays and concerts. You can definitely tell it is a college town as things do feel a bit more empty over the summer, but it isn't too bad. During the fall there is also a huge motorcycle festival called Bikes, Blues, and BBQ (supposedly one of the largest in the country) and it's always enjoyable to go down to Dickson and see the motorcycles.

I honestly could not have imagined a better place to be raised. It is a great city to grow up in as it isn't so small that it feels empty, but isn't so large that you would get lost like in Dallas or Chicago. I might not be obvious, but I miss it dearly One day when I finally retire I would love to be able to buy a small condo in Fayetteville to visit often and to see the Razorbacks play. If you aren't looking for the big city feel, or the extremely rural area I think you will find Fayetteville quite appealing.

Side note: other areas in NWA would include Springdale (a little more "dirty" feeling), Bentonville, and Rogers. The last two are more "developed" and do not feel quite like Fayetteville, nor do they have the scenery...they are much more business oriented as they heart of Wal-Mart sits in Bentonville. Only plus for those is that it puts you closer to Beaver Lake.

If you don't mind me asking (PM if you would like), what area of Washington County is the house you found? Having lived there for roughly 20 years I could give you a very good estimate of what the surrounding area would be like. My suggestion is to obviously go and stay in Fayetteville for a weekend if you can. Experience what the town feels like, walk around the square and drive around exploring areas. I could certainly help suggest a few restaurants or areas of interest if you want.
