Engraving
Any local gun smiths do engraving? I am going to SBR my SCAR and need to get the upper reciever engraved and would rather not send it out of state.
Thanks
The state is a big place. Where you at?
Must have read my mind I was just about to post this question, i am in anchorage...
Keith Stegall In the valley.
TBuck just sent his scar out of state and it looks SWEET.
I'm located in Anchorage, where did he send it out to?

It was in the 48. I want to say simmons LE, but im not sure. Im not on my computer right now so i dont have it in front of me. I sent him to the same place that did my SBR a few years ago and it looks like it was done from the factory.
simmonsle.com and it does look factory. It was laser engraved 1 day turn around time. Send me an email and I can send you a pic.
Just remember, by law, someone who does engraving on a firearm HAS to have an FFL
Probably a low risk of something happening, but would hate to see someone lose a firearm for an indeterminate amount of time over something as silly as that

Keith did mine. Nice guy and it took about 15 min. I have to search for his card. He's near the Harley dealership on the Parks.
376-0703 is Keith's Phone number. I still need to bring mine over there as well.

Could someone who has used Keith, put up a picture? I have a lower I need to have done as well.
Until that day,
Darkop
Here is the SCAR engraving, from Simmons LE.

I would be interested in his work as well.
Simons is cheaper then another site I found.
For a standard AR I would probably do it local. For a $2000 rifle that will be handed down to my family I wanted it to look just like it turned out. The owner of Simmons handled the whole transaction. He even called me about it. Very professional, and wouldn't hesitate using them again. $25 seems cheap to me.
Does the Simmons laser engraving go deep enough to meet BATFE requirements?
I remember a few years ago when I looked into it for my SBR the laser wasnt an option because of this

Yes they do. We talked about it before the work was done.

Thanks for the information.
Keith just did mine on short notice, great guy and family, 25$ is very reasonable and I recommend him, he is also a FFL/SOT...
A set of number and letter punches is 25 bucks from ENCO.
Last a lifetime of stamping aluminum.
