Precision Rifle Suppressor?
I'm thinking about getting 1 more can. I have a Gemtech Quicksand .30 cal can but no matter what I do I just can't get the precision from the rifle with the can on that I get W/O, so I'm thinking of going screw on can or one with a muzzle device that tightly secures the can W/O any movement.
So, who has first hand knowledge with:
1) Thunder Beast Arms 30P
2) Elite Iron Bravo
3) AAC 762 SD
4) Surefire FA 762
5) Other?
My biggest concern is precision. I can deal with POI change as long as it is consistent.
Thanks in advance,
Darkop
I have an AAC762 - older style. From the suppression standpoint, it's fantastic! I've used it on my bolt gun, as well as an M1A and a Noveske N6. With the semi-auto's the groups might be a tad tighter. With the bolt gun, I'm not so sure. That stick was/is the best shooting (group wise) rifle I've ever owned and shot. Once I put the can on, it seemed to be just fine group wise. They didn't open up, but they didn't get tighter either, as has happened with other suppressed rifles.
I've put a 51 tooth AAC 762SD on an m1a and OBR. The can is great for sound suppression and on the OBR, it is a match made in heaven. Can pick clays off at 300yds all day long.
I know you're not asking about 556 cans but I've put a Gemtech G5 on a custom Rem700 and it is still a tack driver out to ~300yds.
Have a phantom QD if you want to try it out sometime.

My N6 doesn't have as much enlargement of the groups as my bolt gun. I think it's due to the short 14.5" barrel. I think the QD is allowing the can to vibrate more, therefore screwing up the harmonic vibrations of the barrel. My bolt gun groups open up so I'm thinking screw on can or screw on with and attachment device.
I love the sound of the titanium Quicksand but I'm very disappointed with the group dispersion. On my bolt gun I have had to down load my reloads by .8 grains to get any accuracy out of them. When I go back to factory ammo my groups open up from .60" to about 1.5"
Keep the info coming guys.
Until that day,

Being that the G5 is a QD can, did the group size of the rifle change at all?
Thanks,

If it did, I don't remember. The last time I had it out shooting at distance I was breaking clays at ~300yds on every shot. Next time I go to the range I'll have to shoot paper at 100 to see if it does.
Damn... it's a bummer that you've never gotten that thing figured out.

Hey Gunner are you back? thought your team just left this fall?
Nope haven't gotten it worked out yet. I think my only option other than living with it is to send it back in and have it changed to a thread on can, but if I do that I won't be able to use it on my Noveske N6.
I am really starting to look at the Thunder Beast and Elite Iron cans. We'll see, I haven't made up my mind yet.
Be safe over there,

We leave in the Spring, just in time for fightin' season... Funny you should mention sending it in and have it made a thread on... I kinda wish I would have gotten the Sandstorm instead of the Quicksand.
Here's to hoping the rescue business is nice and slow this summer,

Very good!
Have you had anymore time to wring out your Quicksand and OBR?
Be safe on your deployment. Save good guys and kill bad guys like a champion!

I haven't... waiting for a good shooting partner that knows a thing or two about precision work. I'm spray and pray by profession.
