Anyone want to do anything this upcoming weekend? I work saturday, but should have sun/mon off. fsjdw2 should be up here this weekend also, but he has plans I believe.

Beyond that, I am getting my ADnD 3.5 group going again, so if anyone wants to get nerdy on thursday nights, feel free to pm me. Honestly, its the only form of gaming I can afford at this time

Which reminds me something else about Las Vegas. I went to all the gaming stores and it was pathetic. At most one or two bookcases with only the latest versions of old style games. WTF? All the roleplaying games have been reduced to freaking boxed board games. My new rule is I will only play versions from 1st edition to 3rd. After that everything went to hell. Our own Comic Shop had 50 times the gaming material and miniatures than the biggest game stores in Vegas. No older stuff, apparently you can only find that in used book stores.

I've resorted to ordering original versions of role playing games off of eBay.

I can't believe a town with stores like Walmart 5 times the size of ours doesn't have ANY decent gaming store. That includes Henderson. I went to a Fry's (Electronics) to buy some flat screen TV's. Awesome deals and a store at least 5 times the size of Walmart/Fred Meyer's West. It was so big it had a coffee house inside and live music with a guy on a grand piano with accompaniment. Tech nerd heaven, everything electronics and everything to build your own. The Best Buy in Anchorage could fit in a small corner of the Fry's that I went to. There were 20+ checkout clerk stations, all manned. The line of candy on shelves you go by at the check out line was at least 80 feet long.

Yet the gun and gaming stores really blow around Las Vegas. At least there are a million places to eat.

I was starting to think I was the only local nerd.

That is really weird about Vegas though. Always figured it would have everything.

No and no. I and my friends grew up D&D nerds. Couple of my friends had a Call of Cthulu module they wrote published, though the company folded and they never got paid. I haven't gamed in a long while, mostly because I was never around but now that I am, I can rejoin some campaigns. I'm trying to work it so several of us each run one roleplaying system each. These boxed games have dumbed everything down for the simple folk and I find it sacrilegious. I didn't know that had happened for so many systems- D&D, Gamma World, Call of Cthulu, and others. They should have stopped with Talisman. Thank god for eBay and out of print auctions.

I can understand not all stores in Vegas can be as good as some of our local specialty stores, but I checked them all and they all stunk, yet some of their stores are so huge you have store clerks that help guide you around so you don't get lost and perish. Vegas is a little different than other large cities though. Seattle had really good specialty shops that I remember.
