 Beretta Road Remodel

Drove through Beretta Road today.....Some SD National Guard guys were there placing ditches/boulders along the perimeter of the first shooting area. Looks like there will be very little parking (soon to be graveled). Not sure what this will do to the guys who shoot more than 50 yds or so. Looks like the way they are placing the rocks, it might make it hard to shoot from anything other than a bench.

No idea if they are going to do anything like this further down the road.

Saw this when I went shooting yesterday also. Don't know what's going on. I usually go farther down the road and shoot though so it doesn't affect me to much.

I haven't been there forever. I might have to swing in and check it out one of these weeks.

Went to Beretta Road today (1400 Sat 13Aug11) to check things out after reading first posting.

What in the hell is going on? 2004 someone dumped boulders there. 2009-2010 some of the boulders
taken some place.

2011 Boulders moved to fill in the dry run off bed there and restrict shooting positions to the North.

Boulders used to constrict the first firing position off, can’t drive the trail north to the long range Brum.

Gravel laid down at first shooting position, and up by the, what I call the Burm 100yds range. This is
probably good.

If who ever did this is trying to restrict the shooting usage on Beretta Road, they are dumb.
This area at least keeps shooters in one place, now shooters will find new places to shoot, and garbage
will be all over the Black Hills.

A lot of money being wasted that could be used for other things. If there is so money to be used for
this type of projects, put it into a public indoor shooting range near Rapid City. My God, we have an
indoor ice skating rink costing us thousands of dollars. There are more shooters then skaters and
we are safer then the skating injuries that happen there.

If government did anything that made sense, we wouldn't have the problems we currently are experiencing.

If they are trying to restrict shooting there, relocate to another spot in the national forest and establish another area. Don't blaze any trails and don't shoot live trees and it'll all be legal.

Some people can't be bothered to not be dickheads. I shot at gov't field today and even that is getting a little cluttered. I really don't understand what the big deal is about taking your target home with you.

I've never figured out the appeal of shooting a couch or mattress. I guess if my IQ was under 70 it might help. Others and myself have voluntarily cleaned up BR and some other areas. If the forest circus is going to be this way, I'm not doing it any more and I won't keep track of who hauls in what like I have in the past. Fuck em...I'll find MORE areas in the national forest to go shoot and let others know where they are.

if you give people a spot to shoot up their old tvs and garbage they will go and do it, then if you take it away, they will still shoot their garbage, just not in one contained easily cleaned place. the enviros are just making it harder to keep everything nice.
