Italian, Mexican, good sit down burger places.
Lately I am really into things like pulled pork, ribs and brisket.

As for Italian we don't have much to offer outside of chain resturants like Johnny Carinos or Olive Garden.
There is a place on the Expressway across from the mall, 'DiDonna's'
http://www.didonnas.net/ which is a step above perhaps as is Minerva's
http://www.minervas.net/minervas-restaurant-bismarck-nd.php which is in the Kelly Inn. You can get some good pasta dishes at the Bistro and Peacock Alley as well if you are looking for something on the higher end $$ wise.
Not much for real good Mexican I'm afraid. Paradiso is about as good as it gets so what does that tell you. There is a place downtown 'Fiesta Villa' but I don't care for them at all.
Burgers....The Bistro
http://www.bistro1100.com/ has a real good burger I've heard but I don't go there for burgers. On the "quai fast food side" I think 5 Guys is the best in town––EDIT: The Woodhouse has a good burger as well.
Not much for BBQ places either aside from Famous Daves or Space Aliens. My brother thinks the ribs at the Texas Road House are really good, I've never had them.
If you are a steak guy Bismarck/Mandan has some pretty decent choices.
I think one of the best steaks in ND is at Roby's west of Mandan about 5 miles. Not much for atmosphere (think old style 80's steak house) but the Ribeye is awesome.
If you are looking for atmosphere (and higher prices) the East 40
http://east40chophouse.com/ is pretty nice. Full menu with some seafood, pasta and steak ect ect. The Bistro and Peacock Alley
http://www.peacock-alley.com/ also fit into this category.
Texas Roadhouse has a decent prime rib for the $$ and being a chain.
Deans Steakhouse on the strip in Mandan is a newer place that I haven't tried but seems to be plenty busy so it can't be all that bad.
There is a new place "Kobe Japanese Steak House"
http://kobescuisinegroups.net/ as well that I have yet to try but you can get steak, fresh sushi and Teppanyaki. I've heard good things thus far.
If you are looking for a more trendy type place. The 'Toasted Frog'
http://toastedfrog.com/ is kinda cool. Has a martini menu, nice wine list, and some neat dishes (the cheesy fried pickles appetizer is a must try).
The Pirogue Grill is a quaint higher end place (across from the Toasted Frog) that has a different kind of menu.
http://www.piroguegrille.com/
And of course there are all the chain places: Applebees, Ground Round, Hooters, TGIFridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Buffalo Wild Wings, Red Lobster
any other questions let me know.
Wow that is awesome. Thank you!
What is going on in Bismarck this weekend? All the hotels are booked.

O that makes sense.
Might be a little late, but Jack's Steak House on S. 12th st... EPIC steaks, and I know the guy who raises their steaks. :)
Famous Dave's for southern-style BBQ type stuff.
Bruno's on 9th and I think Sweet ave. (street that runs parallel a block south of Main) is the best pizza outside of New York City.
Mexican: My sister works at the South Taco Bell next to the Super Walmart, which has been crowned the cleanest Taco Bell in the area... But, I don't think rat is considered 'authentic mexican.' For that, Paradiso is probably the best... Fiesta Villa on Main isn't bad, but sorta pricey and Paradiso kicks their ass every time. Also, for those not from the Midwest: TACO JOHNS!!! Oles and Mexi-Rolls are BEST SHIT EVER!!! Plus, TJ's slays Taco Bell.
DiDonna's, Bistro, Carino's, etc. for Italian, as pointed out.
Also, KROLL'S KITCHEN!!! Epic knoephla, beautiful fleischkeukle. To be honest, I'm sorta surprised nobody in B-town has mentioned them yet!!
Caspar's East 40 is always good for a laugh... Very trendy/hippie of a place (shows in price too), surprised they even serve meat...
For decent fast-food burgers, Burger Time on Main is always a treat. Bigger Burgers are the shit, and their chicken chunks contain more chicken ppm than any other non-descript-chicken-product on earth! (non-descript = fingers, nuggets, strips, etc.) ;)
I think other than that, it's all just generic crap. Friday's, Space Aliens, Carino's, Olive Garden, Perkins, Dennys, McDicks, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC (north end, south one got tore-down), etc. all present.

I've never understood why Jack's get's so much praise for their food. To me, they are perhaps a notch above the Steak Buffet or Bonanza which is why I didn't include them in my previous posts.
As for Bruno's, yeah they have decent pizza but then I'd take Chicago pizza any day over NY pizza and I've had both.

Next time you are in the area of 26th and Main, there are 2 Bismarck landmarks that you have to visit. First is Big Boy. Get fries and gravy, A purple Cow, and The Big Boy Original. Tell your cardiologist hi for me.
Second place is what caused me to argue Kroll's. While Krolls is great, Little Cottage absolutley wastes any commercial bowl of knoephla I've ver had. You will thank me later.
