I posted in the PD thread at the beginning of the year and got a few leads but mostly dead ends. I am looking to organize a shoot with 3 people for about 4 days in SD about the middle of August and need info on where to go and whether or not to hire a guide. Also need to know how your states feel about suppressor use. Thanks guys

The last I knew suppressors were legal for varmints and small game

might be a good idea to get form 5320.20 taken care of, if you are driving its good if you are going through a state that doesn't allow suppressors, and if you are flying its one more piece of paper you can put down on the counter.

http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5320-20.pdf

im pretty sure i remember the right form I would double check with ATF though.

and as far as I can remember you are good with a suppressor for P dogs.

no research went into my post besides a google search for the form, everything is from memory and I may be wrong. take the post as it is.

No 5320.20 is needed to take a can out of state and you can use a can on any critter in SD including the big ones.

In a big town you shouldn't need a suppressor. I've never used one. For the real close ones I use the .17HMR. Works really well!

I park next to them and use a .22lr with subs and a can. The coyotes then get to eat well that night and a few thereafter.

As far as travel, I know the form 20 is not required for travel. I am also an SOT so I have plenty of papers to dump on TSA . I am still looking for locations/guides so any info and experience is appreciated. Thanks guys

Not related to the hunting, but the Sturgis rally is going on mid Aug. You may want to plan your lodging in advance, and expect the the roads to be a bit more congested then normal.

What part of the state are you planning on visiting?

Really I am not picky as I have not been up there before. I would prefer to stay relatively close (within an hour's drive or so) to an airport because as of right now, we are planning on flying in. I am sure there are spots that are better than others so that is what I am looking into right now. We are looking for somewhere that is not too crowded, hasn't been over-shot, and possibly someone who knows the area to boost the carnage on slow days

Get in touch with MrM4 in this forum...he might have some good leads. I have one spot I go to on public land, but I haven't been out there yet this year to see how it's doing.

Fly into Bismarck (if it hasn't flooded by then!) and drive down to the McIntosh, SD area.
