Total Firearms Mason MI. Prices
I was in Total Firearms in Mason the other day when I noticed a Glock G26 gen 3 in the case marked at $634.00.
Then I took a closer look and to make matters worse the tag said "USED" .
The guy behind the counter then asked me if I would like some help, in my shocked state all I could do was utter out the words "no thanks" but what I was thinking was "are you freaking nuts !"
The reason I bring this up is I understand that it is the their business and they can price stock at any price they want, and it is my right not to shop there.
But as a gun person I find it insulting that they would price a gun so unreasonably high and this also tells me that they don't want the business of a semi educated buyer but that they are looking for that sucker to pay their prices.
So I will exercise my rights and never step foot in that shop again and I only hope that the person who buys a G26 USED for $634.00 will never try to sell it as he will realize that bending over and grabbing ones ankles is a painful and expensive proposition.
What is O.D.?
EDIT.. LOL WAS IT O.D.

Was this your first (and last) time to Total Firearms?

Nope, black.
Not the first time but certainly last.
Sounds like they honed their pricing skills at the gun shows here in Michigan.
I went thru there last week and while I didn't really bother with looking at most prices after I saw a few of the prices on the used rifle rack. Perusing the aisles of the accessories that are dusty and just plain out of date told me enough about this store. Never again!
go down the road to Not Just Guns, there at Cedar and almost 127, right next to the Wendys. They match/beat prices and are pretty cool guys. Total Firearms prices are way too high, and their "range master" is a clown.
That place is a joke!! They are classic rip off. They are at the Sport Show Promotions that host the gunshow's in Michigan. In fact I think they are the host's. No I would not go to their store again if it was the only one in the state.

+1 to Not Just Guns they are good guys and are willing to work with you on prices.

Thats not fair. He won a Camp Perry championship in 1895 or 1985 or something.. Least that's what he told me when he offered to teach me load a pistol magazine.
Not Just Guns is a lot better.
Yeah, that guy was telling me he was an Airborne Ranger from the 101 in the 1980's. I am a former Ranger from 2/75 Ranger Batt with 3 combat tours and countless training deployments/hours under my belt. So that didnt sit to good with me. Getting your Ranger tab is good, but doesnt mean you are a Ranger, SERVING in the 75th Ranger Regt. does. We had a heated debate after he insisted he knew how I was trained, SOPs, etc.I remember him telling me and my brother that shooting a "thumbs forward grip" is wrong. He is a scum bag liar, and damn lucky I am so kind. I know plenty of batt boys that would have tuned him up for talking the way he was. Bottom line Total Firearms is a overpriced store that employees scum bag liars.
Jay
Schupachs in Jackson comes in second for highest prices!
Not Just Guns has my vote, too. Staff there has been more than willing to work with me to get what I am looking for if they do not have it already in stock.
I used to spend much time at Total, but their prices and attitude towards customers is keeping me away. I used to shoot quite often there, too. That is until I would call to make sure the range was open, pack my gear, drive the half hour or so to get there, and find out the range had been closed all day and will be closed for several more. I can understand closing the range for maintenance, but the employees in that small of a shop better know if it is open or not.

Thank goodness CASL is only a few miles from me. Not sure I could handle dealing with indoor shooting range, and rangemasters.

+1 total drives me insane
With the combined competition of big box stores and internet retailers, you'd think some shops would adjust their prices accordingly.

This.
I was speaking with On Target in Kalamazoo yesterday and had explained that I would rather give my money to a local business than an online retailer, if he was willing to meet me halfway on price. On an H&K P30L that would have been about $925, rather than the $875 online. His response was, "Well, frankly I'm doing enough business I don't need to negotiate with you on this."
Roger, no problem, internet gets the money...

Actually when you add in the transfer fee and the MI sales tax that you have to pay even though you bought the gun on line you only saved about $30 or so From his asking price plus tax.

WOW! I have ran into that a few times with various business's. It really is a shame. I know I went up to the "Gun Barn" in Otisville and worked hard to keep a straight face. Their prices are astronomical. They must have great salesmen though as they raped my buddy, not one, not twice, but three times. Every time he told me what he paid, I was shocked and told him that he got screwed. Well, we all learn one day.......

They are one of the displays I just walk by without stopping. They have a very poor selection of quality used firearms to boot also.
Same experience as others, no deal on prices. i was too impatient and ordered anyway.

I have a friend who frequents On Target, and he told me they'll cut deals on some items, while others they won't budge. I'm sure it also helps if they recognize you as a repeat customer.
People will price their goods at "what the market will bear". There are probably just more people in that area willing to throw money away at impulse buys.
If I worked 80 hours a week at $100/hour and someone told me I was 20% high, I'd turn them away too.

I have on numerous occasions in the past several years purchased firearms from them, including a Ruger SR556, which carries a fairly hefty pricetag, Ive bought a couple of shotguns and a handgun out there. But frankly more often than not, the service is sub-par, and it isnt usually a good experience going out there. I will caveat that by saying I wandered in there yesterday on a whim, hoping they had one of the Bullpup AK74's that century recently put out, and the two younger guys working with me were very helpful and friendly. They had just sold the one rifle they had in stock but were willing to order it at a very competetive price. So no complaints on that one.
