What happened to MGO?

I went to send another member a PM last night and it crashed.
Looks like it still hasn't come back up.
Did I do that?

A whois on the IP address shows it is hosted by a local ISP in Lansing. If it isn't up in a day or so someone could email the admin address listed there, not sure how often it gets checked though...

tracert shows it getting there but at best I can only get an 'index' page.

I think it is some sort of conspiracy between my wife and the mods over there so I can't do any last minute Christmas shopping.

I sent the mods a messege last night at about 11:30 telling them it was down.

Damn I love looking through the guns For Sale section, usually some fun toys in there.

I heard PhotoTom and some of the BOD ego's finally exploded all over their servers and no one has been heard from since.

They must have one crappy DR plan or MGO had a very poor TOS agreement, I can damn near fix any website in a freaking week, even if I have to reload from backup...

That's what ive been thinking.

It's starting to piss me off that they are taking this long, I enjoy that site and do a fair amount of business there. To think they can be down over a week with the inexpensive technology of today is unacceptable. Don't think I'll be renewing my membership...

It's the problem of the server/hosting company.

NOT the admin, moderators or BOD members of MGO.

The hosting company's server shit the bed....a hardware issue.

Several customers were effected. They have to rebuild all the accounts and then restore from backups.

I'm sure they're prioritizing. If they have companies that rely on their websites for revenue, I'm sure they will get precedence over a "message board"

Our hosting company experienced a critical hardware failure and had to replace equipment. This affected several customers, MGO included.

They have replaced the failed equipment/hardware and are now in the process of rebuilding all of the accounts affected.

We are currently anticipating restoration of the website later this evening (Wednesday, December 28, 2011).

It's all up to the service provider.

MGO owners should ask for a huge discount or move to another provider.

I love my hosting service. Only had one issue, ever, since 2004. They had a critical server failure. Site was back up within minutes on a new server because they actually have backups that work.

MGO needs to get back up soon!

My theory is the hosting company had to have had a storage failure and then found out the back up was corrupt or non viable.

Gonna be an interesting resolution. In this day of virtualized systems be that VM, Hypervisor or XEN, a hardware failure should be effectively a non event.

So in this case if the outage hit multiple customers they ISP probably has a terms of service about who gets restored first, e.g. the more you pay the higher in the queue you are.

I am also curious who was responsibly for the backups, the ISP or the end-user.

So we don't really know who bears the responsiblity for restoration, but my money is on the ISP and MGO is probably low in the queue if the outage is wide spread.
