Can't think of anywhere else it could go other than DeVos Place. Could be a better show in a new location.

What's up did they get on the wrong side of the Deltaplex or something?

Devos or Van Andel would be my first guesses for new locations.

It's my understanding that a new promoter will be holding the gun shows at the Delta Plex.

One that will compete with SportShow's? Because from the letter, they will be having shows just at a new location.

From what I've heard there will be two shows over in Grand Rapids. That's why Doug's ad says that he's, "the original Grand Rapids gun show".

They posted on the above linky the new location:

New location will be - 28th Street ShowPlace, 1258 28th St SW.
Grand Rapids, MI. More information coming soon.

This is right near the Old Studio 28, not sure what it is, can't imagine a building over there large enough to hold the Gunshow. I guess we shall see

Interesting.. I live around the corner. I'll slide over..

Outside of Studio 28 (1350 28th St Sw)

My guess is the old Office Depot Building..

BUT I don't think The old Office Depot building is nowhere near the size of the deltaplex.

From a friend of mine on face book. Apparently I was wrong about the location.. It's around back.

It will be the same building as office depot, but around the back in the old Joann Fabrics.

This will be a much better location, better lighting, more square footage, roof doesn't leak, and the heat and AC work!

As long as they have a bathroom that isn't so nasty. The one at the Deltaplex always stunk so much. If I didn't have to go, I didn't.

So there are actually going to be 2 shows and at least in February they will both be on the same weekend Feb. 25-26th. That should be interesting. How many dealers are really out there to have enough for 2 shows at the same time.

Thing is the New Deltaplex shows will allow CC (but not OC) while the other show on 28th St will continue to have no carry of any kind except zip tied.

I'm a bit leery. I have a feeling this is going to split the state's only decent gun show into two mediocre gun shows.

I would think that if Either Show was smart they would set up schedules not to compete for vendors and participants.. But hell what do I know..

I have been going to the Delta plex gun shows off and on for 10 years and its not as if it needs less gun venders. The last show I went to was a joke. Good place to find jurky and flash lights not deals on gun stuff.

What the deal is here..

The owner of the delta plex got greedy. He saw the show doing very well, and decided that he was going to kick Doug out and promote his own show. So the show Doug puts on outside the Plex will be the same show, same amount of tables, with the same vendors just in a different place. Simply put the owner of the delta plex, who screwed the vendors at every turn anyway thinks he can put on a show lol. Well, now Doug has a place that works, and the parking will be free. So this will work out better for those coming to the show.

I made it out to the show on Saturday. It's been a couple years since I've been to the Deltaplex show, but it seemed to have an excellent turnout. The show was fairly packed when I got there around 11:00am. I had a chance to drag along a friend of mine to his first-ever gun show.

As usual, there was a little bit of everything up for sale. Fortunately, there weren't many "garage sale" tables this time around, which was a welcome surprise. Unfortunately, prices were quite high at the majority of tables. I was looking for a few more PMags and saw prices ranging from $25 all the way up to $45 at quite a few tables. Fortunately, I found a dealer selling PMags with the MagLevel windows for $16 on my way out, and I picked up six of them. I would have gladly paid $20 for them, so $16 was a great price. They're hard to find online for that price, and I didn't have to pay shipping at the gun show!

My buddy is new to shooting sports, and he was drooling over 1911s at the show. These were also all over the charts on pricing. Heavily used cheap-brand models (e.g. Llama) were going for as much as $850. He didn't buy a gun at the show, but I think he has narrowed his choices down to Kimber and Springfield Armory.

I was looking for a good XDm 5.25 Competition, but only one vendor had one at the show due to their relative newness. I picked up a business card and plan on making a purchase in late January. I also got to see quite a few supressors now that Michigan has legalized them for consumer ownership. I was quite impressed at how quickly vendors got them out to the gun show.

I rented a XD(M) 5.25 (9mm) at Target Sports (Orchard Lake) yesterday. Shot a hundred rounds through it. Groupings from 15ft to 75ft were a LOT better than what I do with my Springfield GI 1911.

I want to buy one. We'll see what happens with profit sharing this year.
