Where to shoot near Eagle Mountain (city center), Utah?

My wife and I recently moved from another area of Utah to Eagle Mountain. It's quite rural, but in talking to other people I've been told that the cops here will arrest you if your brass so much as falls on the city owned property if you are up in the hills shooting. Problem is, I can't seem to find out where the city ends, and BLM land starts. Does anyone know of an area out here that's safe to shoot? I've tried looking at BLM maps, but I can't find what I need.

Thank you!

Get on highway 73 and head West. You can decide to stay on 73 and take the bend around to Mecur or Ophir area, or you can go out near the Faust station. You'll hit the 5 mile pass area that is closed for shooting because it's a popular ATV area. The areas mentioned are outside of the no shooting zone. Faust has more shooting land IMO.

Your other option is to take Redwood road south to the Pelican point area.

Anywhere between you and Utah Lake.

My fav spot with the Scouts is off of Redwood road, south bound. Everything to your right is fair game except the fenced off mining area.

You know you're there when you see a sign by the County to clean up your trash that you shoot.

ETA got towards Faust off of the Pony Express. Stupid 5 mile pass closed for 4x4.

There's the west side of the lake south of Pelian Point and a good spot south of The City Center that I like yo go to.

Are you in the Ranches or City Center?

I'm in the Ranches and moved here when everyone was jumping for joy at the prospect of Smith's building out on Redwood Rd.

Eagle Mountain Blvd heading east to Lake Mountain Road heading south. Stay on Lake Mountain road for a little ways then just head east toward the base of Lake Mountain on any of the dirt roads and you you should be on BLM land. In the Ranches take Pony Express Parkway heading east to Porters Crossing Parkway. After a ways Porters Crossing turns into a dirt road if you go straight, or takes you into the sub-division if you turn right. Keep going straight (south) for about a mile and the road will turn left (east) look to the right (south) and you will see an older timber fence, this is BLM land. You can drive through Hidden Valley and towards the far southern end there is more BLM land.

I have been harassed in Hidden Valley, but after showing the Officer we were clearly on BLM land he backed down saying he thought all the dirt roads down there were on city land and he wasn't sure if he had jurisdiction on BLM land or not. I have never been bothered off Lake Mountain Road or off Porters Crossing.

You can get BLM maps at Utah Idaho Map Supply or through the BLM itself.

Maybe we need to get an Eagle Mountain shoot together one of these days, seems like there are a few of us.

ETA, Here is a pretty good PDF map from last year.

I am a former resident of the City Center, and I would shoot on the east side of lake mountain road, a few miles south of the city center.

This was back in 2005 - 2007, so I am not sure if its still a good spot or not.

Yes, let's do a Lake Mountain Rd. shoot! Definitely!

I took my wife and kids out there a few weeks ago. I felt much safer than off of Redwood, and there is a nice backstop for pistol shooting.

When's a good Saturday? We can set up a fire pit roast some dogs, and blast the zombie hoards as they come pouring over the hill.

Who's in? We can set up for pistol, rifle, and shotgun out there.

Pretty much any Saturday after the holidays would be fine with me, I work nights but I could squeeze in a few hours to do some shooting.

Thanks for all the replies! I may go check out a few of those spots today. And yes, let's set up a day for us Utah folks to go shooting out here.
