Remembering Wyoming
Good day Rocky mountainers.
I'm a native New Yorker born and raised. I went to Forestry school (87) and always thought
I would end up somewhere out west. I have had the pleasure of hiking and hunting in
Wyoming. When I was 18 I spent a month hiking in the Tetons and Yellowstone and hunted
a few years later in Medicine Bow Natnl Forest in the SE portion of the state.
I hiked in August so this is an anniversary of sorts, and I will always remember one of the
most beautiful places I have ever been. We did the Jackson Hole buffonery but the best time
was spent up high and walking behing the Tetons. We actually hiked across a glacier into Targhee,
almost got hit by lightning on Prospectors mountain "boot skied" down some ice (a hiker was
killed that year falling into a crevasse...)
I am still envious of those that are there. The people were fantastic (hitch hiking to trail heads and such)
and welcomed me like one of their own. I was a defining experience in my life and directed me towards
working outdoors. Lovely place, great people and unspoiled beauty. I wish I was there.
If you're ever in the Park County area, hit me up! We'd love to have you visit!
well come on back, plenty of room
Former NY'er here. Lived there all my life until I moved here a couple of years ago. Outside of family, there's no way I'm going back due to the it's crazy laws.
