The view I miss

I was going to say that your picture looked eerily similar to 34 north of Bosler.

I used to frequent that area quite a bit when I lived in Cheyenne and worked on the Union Pacific, now I travel it once a year to go to elk camp in the Snowys.

Nice. I was in the Snowy's a few months ago for some snowmobiling. It is a wonderful area and the only place I consider home.

My parents lived out of state. My dad got cancer and passed away six months later and mom was left to sort out a dire mess and my 3 younger brothers. So I packed the car and left. I just never go to move back. I go back all the time and my best friends are there but moving back so far has been a bit hard. I miss it everyday.

Texas is just fine. Its also just not Wyoming. I love Laramie. Loved the people, the area. Every place has its issues but Laramie always felt good to me. I have friends outside of town that have a beautiful ranch. Loved going up there. Used to work on the Ranch a lot. Jackson is nice but it is expensive as heck. I don't care where I end up as long as it is in Wyoming someday soon.

It was a good law school, especially for the money. Since she was a WY high school graduate she received the in-state tuition rate even though we moved there from Utah.

Not going to school there wasn't much to do in town. I spent the first year commuting to Rawlins to work as well. Not sure one more year would have helped either. We had the truck packed and left town less than 12 hours after graduation. I do miss the open space within minutes. We were on the north end of town so it only took me 10 minutes to get to the range. It had it's plusses, but way more minuses for me.

Speaking of Laramie, how in the hell does a University town not have a strip club?

Good question! Lots of women taking it off at the Buckhorn just had to get them good and drunk.

Hey, a bad strip club is better than no strip club. And there's plenty of potential talent sitting in their dorm rooms living off ramen and ketchup soup. I'm just sayin', there's money to be made there. If someone was selective about the girls and got on the circuit... goldmine.

HAHAHA!!! Everywhere I have ever lived, there is something I use as an "excuse" as to why I moved from there.

Cheyenne was Frontier Days.

Now I am dealing with the Sturgis idiocy.

Frontier Days used to be big shit.... not so much so anymore. They used to just cordon off most of downtown, let the drunks get drunker than hell, and only give them shit if they broke something. City Council made sure that came to an end... along with the revenue.

But there is always the Frontier Days decorations..... comprised entirely of those orange barrels. Not sure why the WYDOT feels the need to do ALL of the road improvements during Frontier Days when the population freaking doubles.

I'll tell you a secret... it's the same way nationwide. At least you guys in WY get smooth roads out of it (at least the ones I've been driving on the last weekend)... in MI the roads are usually almost as bad when they're done with the "improvements" as they were before.

Major roadways are pretty decent, but I'll tell you what...the County and Lease roads I drive on in the SE OilFields suck ass. Maybe I'll get up to 25mph (max allowed) on the lease roads, and maybe 40 on the county roads. The bumps, dips, potholes, washboard, and soft shoulders, make driving a semi on them a bone garring experience. And when it rains, the gravel/dirt turns to a very slick mud.

Oh, and you can tell when CFD comes around; everybody and their brother dusts off the cowboy boots and hats for about two weeks, and then after CFD they put them back up for the rest of the year.

The Green Door is like an elephant graveyard, it's where strippers go to die. I went in once upon a time to check it out, after a few minutes a guy stumbled outta the shitter after being stabbed. No joke. Kinda like the Tumble Inn in Powder River used to be after they lost their liquor license and you had to BYOB.

And for the discussion about the orange barrels/construction - It's well known that there are 4 seasons in Wyoming : Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter and Road Construction.

Well, I am back. Funnily enough we never made it to CFD. We had a blast. Worked out at the Ranch. Saw friends. Went shooting. The wife and kids loved it. Now, they haven't seen it 12 weeks in to a long cold winter but that is another story. I am putting getting home as prioroty number 1.

Awesome weather, but that hail that hit twice was a bitch! Worked over my dad's car like a room full of 3rd graders with a box of ball peen hammers.
