Does anybody here have a recommendation for a good 1911 gunsmith? I am thinking about either putting together a custom 1911 myself or having a local smith build one for me. Either way would like any recommendations for a 1911 smith local here in Oregon

John at Shooter's Service Center in Portland (St. John's area). I have had him do complete builds, and modifications to both duty and match guns The quality of his work is fabulous, prices very competitive. Some times he is pretty busy, but that is what happens when smiths are good. It is the smiths who usually bugger your stuff up that can get the work out quickly, and that is often because folks don't take work back to people who bugger up your stuff.

i don't know if he builds 1911s, or just works on them, but he does great work.
Ernie at gunners sport shop in brookings is a great gunsmith and he is very knowledgeable about 1911s.

Jon Brisco of JB Gunsmithing.

Best smith I have ever come across, and his prices are GREAT!

He built my first pistol and has been doing work on my gear for some time.

IM me for details.
