Seaside get away
I'm figuring on taking the girlfriend to Seaside. Any ideas of where to stay and what to do? Any good gunstores out that way?
Its been years since I have stayed in Seaside, but we used to stay at a place in the cove called The Lanai
The Lanai. Nothing to fancy, but rooms have balconies that are as ocean front as you can get. Most rooms have little kitchenettes. Fairly cheap too if I remember correctly.

Fuck me go farther north or south seaside was trash and dogshit everywhere side just a few weeks ago.
Piles of dog shit on the side streeets, fucking trash everywhere and dog shit dog the boardwalk.
Sounds like fleaside to me, It was never one of my favorite beaches. I'd go to Cannon beach or one of the smaller towns instead.

Alright so any particular areas that I should look at with a hotel reccomendation?
If you want quite and a kick ass beach check out neskowin about 4 miles north of lincoln city, I also like cannon and pacfic city.
Gearhart is cool and only a couple miles North of Seaside. Gearhart By the Sea is a nice place to stay and just across the street from a Mcmenamins. Much, much better than Seaside.

Another option (a better one in my opinion is to rent a house. We have stayed in some REALLY nice places in Manzanita. Take a look at

I'll second Neskowin and Manzanita.
In Neskowin there are a metric shit ton of houses to rent. Google Grey Fox. They manage about 99% of the rental houses in Neskowin. Try to get something at the north end beyond the gate. That end of the beach is usually totally empty. You can walk/bike/drive down to the village for the Hawk Creek Cafe.
In Manzanita The Inn at Mazanita is the place to stay. It's been over a year since I've been through Manzanita and businesses come and go so a food recommendation is something I'm not even going to try.
The Hallmark Resort in Newport is pretty awesome. Some neat lights on the water, subtle, but makes the waves breaking really stand out. Hottubs in the rooms, dogs are allowed if you need that.
The place in neskowin if you can get a handicapped room which is ground floor has the biggest tubs and showers ever!
I am a big guy and had more than enough room for me and the GF.
