I am going to purchase about 10 pieces of molle gear but the problem is I want ACU pattern and nobody has it in stock. What colors do you prefer for your gear ? This will be for classes, range use and general fun... Dont want black everything I own is black.

I voted before I read....

I like atacs and am slowly changing everything over. But at current, most of my kit is coyote brown.

Plain old boring OD. I have some ACU stuff, but just because I got it for a song when HSGI cleared out all the ACU stuff.

I like A-TACS too.....I just like how it looks. But I mainly like anything except black....

By the way.......if you WANTED ACU you missed out on the sales. Everyone is getting rid of it so it was going for 25% - 75% off a little bit back.

You should still be able to find it sold used from people who are out now, or transitioning gear.

Get a lot of cheap stuff that way. Work your connects.

I found od, acu, and cb not to be very effective if you are actually "hiding" multicam works ok in fall and winter, woodland marpat In the summer works better. Atacs fg works best as an all year round. I've also had great success with tiger stripe and dpm depending on time of year (mainly summer when everything is really green).

I voted O.D. green, Mostly due to where we live at. This is how I view it, where we live at theres mostly greens, and dark browns. so if you get tan your gonna stick out like a sore thumb, and I never thought acu worked very well unless your in a lime green country. I actually try not to have all my stuff the same color, I like multicam for cammies, with green or woodland gear, it seems to me that multicam with tan looks VERY "deserty" whereas multicam with green seems to work better in the woods. If I were in the desert somewhere then I would have to go with multicam and tan or Marpat with tan, But by god if I can help it I wont ever fight in the desert again...

I agree- to an extent. In "dark" woods with an abundance of hardwoods and lots of leafy foliage, Coyote works well, but OD green works slightly better. In more open forests (planted pine rows and controlled-burned forests), Coyote works much better. Neither is perfect because they are a solid color.

In my humble opinion, Coyote is much more versatile than OD green across most of Georgia most of the year. But, as I alluded to above, neither color is camouflage (nor is ACU, for that matter).

Oh, you want it to actually camo yourself? Well in that case I change my answer to "Mossy Oak" or perhaps "Realtree"

I've actually always been a fan of the German Flecktarn camo pattern. In this part of the country there's only a small window where I feel it blends fairly well, which is when the leaves are changing (short time around here since we don't get the drastic seasonal changes) and there's actually some light browns and reds and such in the foliage.

I thought he said for classes, range, and fun. I wasn't considering actual visual effectiveness.

That's what I read, as well. For actual concealment, I'm with coastal_shredder. Mossy Oak and Realtree > everything else (although there are times when they are a little too dark). If only they would make chest rigs, pouches, and plate carriers in those patterns....

Is multicam not a choice because of the now fashionable multicam hate? Or because you don't want to have the same thing as Evonne else?

I bought multicam before it was the flavor of the month, when it was hard to find and cost more,
I bought it when it was the hot shit ninja stuff to have,
And now that all the tier following weekend commandos trash talk it I still buy it.

For specific uses it's not the best available, but I've used it in enough places to know that as a universal compromise, if you are only going to buy one set of kit! it will perform better than anything else.

For solid colors depending on what part of the county, od and cb are equally effective

Eh, I've always like multicam, had it before it was a ninja/airsofter/awesomeness.... I've liked it. But I haven't found it ideal in all scenarios.

Foreman, IM me what you are looking for gear wise. I think I might can help ya out.

You might be on to something...

I know most people do not care for Condor gear but I don't plan on breaking the bank on molle gear. I just don't see the point as it will never de used in "combat" or see any real abuse.
I would like to find a supplier that has it all in stock though.

A thought: what ARE you going to use it for? You said range use, classes, etc., I know... here's the thing about Condor gear, in my experience - it is actually MORE expensive. Why? Cause the few pieces I've had... sucked. So, you buy some cheap stuff, it falls apart, then you mend your ways (after attempting to mend the gear) and get something better. More expensive.

I am not military or LEO, so I don't take it to combat or even "combat," but the fact of the matter is that a Condor pack I had wasn't even up to the task of toting a TI-89 calculator around in an interior pocket - it started tearing and falling apart on my second tour of duty/semester at the north avenue trade school. Sure, they use the 1000D nylon same as the other guys, but its the stitching that will have you cursing the stuff, as it will come apart.

Long story short... (chuckles at South Park)... it didn't even take a fight to push the stuff past its limits. If you're literally going to use it once a year, it may not be a bad option. I've found over recent years I've come to view gear more as an investment than a cost to be absolutely minimized. Gear falling apart on you in a class will interfere with your experience, especially since you don't need much of it.

What would you recommend ?

Well, it's not secret that Eagle, HSGI, ATS, Tactical Tailor, etc all make good stuff and I don't think you can go wrong with any of that. The good thing about good gear, too, is that you can buy it used and expect it to still be in perfectly good condition, albeit a little "broken in." I'd scour the EE and go about it that way if I were patient. If I were impatient, I'd just go to somewhere like skdtac.com.

There are too many ways to save on Eagle, HSGI, SKD, and other quality gear. No excuse to get the lower stuff.

Search boards, lots of used stuff gets sold for cheap. Check their clearance pages and specials. Work that google shopping search. There's tons of good stuff out there that you don't have to go broke for.

What larue said. Hell I've got 6 big rubber made containers of gear I just don't use.... And I have a small stash compared to.many guys on here. Used gear from a good brand (i like eagle and hsgi) will serve you well. It also doesn't hurt that I know gene with hsgi pretty well. So I get a discount on his stuff.

Ordered a HSGI factory second padded molle belt.

HSGI is good stuff... the few pouches I've gotten from them have been almost impossible to mount without first defeating them in a greco-roman wrestling match due simply to their tight fit and rock solid stitching.
