I had been set up to take Defensive Concepts class in June but had to forego due to work. I'm looking for a basic class sometime August or lateer. Anyone have any recommendations?

I have been to several DCNC classes and plan to attend more. Best bang for your buck in NC. (pun intended)

Bring lots of water, bug spray, sunscreen, comfortable shoes / boots and something to sit on. Load your mags the night before.

If you don't have a spare bolt, firing pin, extractors, etc for your rifle you might want to look in to that now.

Bring your lunch so you can hang around the range and get a free hour of info!

Don't get hung up on having the perfect configuration of gun and gear before you show up. You'll probably change your mind on a few things before the day is over. It's also a great opportunity to see what other people are running with.

Have fun! These guys are a bargain for the level of info you get.

I just attended a tactical Rifle class in Nichols, SC this past Saturday put on by the South Carolina Gun School. They also have classes up near Greenville. I found it worthwhile and fun. Info is here:

When I took the Home Defense class, they were pretty much "Forget the eating here crap" and we headed off to the diner in town.

Check ALASTAR TDS-C in Wilmington. I'm not sure if they've published their schedule out to August yet but they're fantastic I've been to a couple of their schools and reccomend them all the time. All of their instructors are either current or former special operations of some kind (The last carbine course I was at the instructors were police SWAT, MARSOC, green berets, and a guy from D.O.E. atomic security)

DCNC is GTG. As with any class, pay attention, be safe and have fun.

I find that simpler is better when attending classes. Don't over think the gear.
