going on a conoe/fishing/camping trip down the edisto river....
my dad has planned a 3 day trip canoeing, fishing, and camping.
i was curious if any of you have tips on how to fish a slow moving blackwater river and what bait/lures to use as i have never done any fishing like this before.
fly rod? light spinner? baitcasting?
any suggestions or expeiences would be appreciated.
I use to fish the Edisto alot, use crickets just off the bottom for red breast, fishing the deeper holes are the best. I always used a light weight spinning setup, ultra light is fun long as you get the drag set right.
Watch for the moccasins they are out already and like to hang out of the trees.
Have fun and be safe the Edisto can be a dangerous river, lots of under currents.
Ask Sp00ky he goes every chance he can get to be on the river.

Take pictures and do a write-up! This is something my cousin and I have been talking about doing.
