Walmart AR's
I've heard that some Walmarts are starting to carry AR's. I can't imagine that Charlotte area Walmart stores would carry black rifles but you never know I guess.
Any first hand info? Locations etc?
At the Wal-mart in Hickory they carry Sig, Smith and Wesson M&P, aand Colt.
Thanks!
I remember seeing one or two black rifles at the walmart in Gastonia, didn't check the caliber though to see if they were 22's or 5.56. I want to say they looked like M&P's.
wal mart in monroe has them
and the federal 420 rd 62gr ammo packs $159
walmart in Albemarle had one
$159?
That's $10 more than us!

Oh believe me I know...............just stopped in the local mom and pop sporting goods store and it runs $189.................and that's why I reload everything now
I think you can ask the sales clerk (if you can find one, i mean seriously what the heck) for the catalog and they can order you anything you want. Might be better than waiting for it to come in?

Regular price of $179 with a $149 team special a two can limit vs $159 all the time and no limit on amount. You deal is not really that good and the last time I check the walmart in Ashe county their price was $149 as well
Walmart was $149 went up a week or so ago to $159, PSA's was 139 and went up to 149
Last I checked the walmart in gastonia was $149 for their 420rd can, but that was a few weeks back so they could've went up to $159 as well.
Although shooters express was $249 for the same ammo can in belmont, so I laughed and walked out...
Also, for the person talking about ordering from the wal mart catalog, you will pay a "premium" for anything you order out of that, for example, if you order the cricket youth .22 blued, Irish a black synthetic stock, it's $129....however most walmarts stock that model, if you buy it from store stock it is $99.....so if you find a gun in the catalog you want, before you have them "order" it for you, find out if it is one they normally stock, they may have it sitting in the back, they have one rem 700 in the case, normally a 30-06 in my stores, however they have 6-8 other calibers locked up in the back
Well the problem me and my buddy had about the Walmart in Belmont was they have a 30-06 rem 700 sitting in the case for something in the neighborhood of $450, with a cheap scope. They however, do not sell that same "model" in 308, only in 22-250, 30-06, 270, and 7mm. The cheapest rem 700 in .308 they would sell him was something like $580 scoped.
Lots of busmasters at most midlands sc wally worlds
Walmart in Kannapolis has a few AR's there
It's okay. We're just poking fun at Mao*Mart. I welcome them back in the gun business. We would be remiss however, if we failed to point out that they closed their gun counters when they were politically incorrect. Now that their political masters say it is okay (and their sales are down) they start carrying firearms again.
So sure, Mao*Mart is selling guns. But like any fair weather friend and sunshine patriot, they will close their gun counters when the political winds blow the other way.
What IS the case is at Quantico Tactical, you will never be treated like a criminal for buying a gun at any of our locations. You will not be "escorted" out of one of our stores after purchasing a weapons nor will you ever see a "NO CCW Allowed" in one of our stores.
Also, we just ordered $750k worth of ammunition for delivery in Mar, Apr and May. We don't plan on eating it, so stand by for some excellent (for us anyway) deals on ammunition!

Like most, I don't have money to burn but I would rather pay a reasonable amount more from product from an actual gun shop that a discount retailer. Especially a fair-weather one, Quantico has a great point. Buying the cheapest possible ammo feels like you won the lottery but the hidden cost is the long term effect of not supporting your local "dirty floor" gun store (assuming they aren't ridiculously expensive and rude). A brick and mortar store has alot of overhead, especially a gun shop.
In short, if you enjoy going to a gun store handling stuff, looking over their inventory, and soaking up the eye candy......think about that as a service before you run to WM or go online to buy your ammo / arms. Just my .02 cents
I felt compelled to write a bit more on this topic this AM.
First of all, I grew up on Oklahoma and can remember when there were "Made in the USA" signs EVERYWHERE in Wal-Mart. Seems like the transition to Mao*Mart began when Sam Walton died, but that isn't the issue here.
I have ALWAYS tried to buy/sell Made in USA items when I can. If you look at our table at a gunshow, other than some imported Blackhawk and handguns (Mainly XDs), you are hard pressed to find something NOT made in the USA at our table. Here are some examples of the lengths we go toL
- Under Armor: We turned down selling Under Armor and putting it on our GSA Schedule because it was made overseas. In stead, we sell "XGO" in our stores and to the government. It is made in Moore and Richmond Counties NC. Not only is XGO better quality than UnderArmor, it is less expensive too.
- S&W: We are pouring A LOT of support behind the S&W M&P pistol. Why buy a Glock or XD when you can buy a polymer pistol made right here in the USA
- Quantico Shirts: Our last batch of shirts were made by Duke Athletic; right here in the Yanceyville, NC
- Socks: We have a kick-ass line of socks we sell in our stores which are made in Hickory, NC. I have not allowed foreign made 5.11 or Blackhawk socks in our stores. The USA ones are better quality, have Smartsilver anti-microbial and are LESS EXPENSIVE than the heavily advertised 5.11 and Blackhawk ones.
- Optics: We sell Trijicon, EoTech and Leupold. We don't sell imported knock-offs. Never have, never will.
The list goes on and on. We can't always offer Made in USA goods for every category. But we try damn hard and probably 75% +/- of the goods sold by Quantico Tactical are made in the USA. Because of that, I sleep well at night.
FYI: The same goes for my house. Other than electronics, you would be hard pressed to find anything made overseas in my house.

Ehh, all of them didn't stop selling guns, from what I understand it was always up to the store manager, the 2 nearest me, they have "always" sold long guns and ammo.

That right there is what I like to hear. I haven't been to a gunshow in a LONG time because I got tired of looking at flea market items and overpriced shooting supplies.
I will look you guys up the next time I go to a gun show. And right now I feel like I need to go to one just to meet you guys.
And I just got a message that you guys are sending a box of goodies for the hometown shoot in May, so I really want to meet the guys behind the company.
Thanks
To the OP. At my local Wake Forest, NC Wal Mart, I saw a SIG M400, a Bushy carbine, and a Colt 6920.
I personally buy my stuff (except for some ammo) from local gun shops even if it costs a bit more. However, I do really like to see black rifles at retail outlets like Wal Mart simply for the fact that it makes them a lot more mainstream and visible (and maybe a little more acceptable) to the traditional hunters and the general population.
Dave,
I bought from you when you were out in Pacific Grove at Cold War Relics, bought from you mail order when you started Quantico, and buy at the shows in Raleigh. I will continue to do so.

Jim:
Wow, Cold War Relics. That is a BLAST FROM THE PAST!
Someday, I will retell the "history" for the AR15 market on these pages (I know/knew most of the early players, their incestuous (sometimes literally) relationships and other little bits of AR15 history), but here is a quick overview.
When I was stationed at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Rick Perry (a Navy Commander, not the Governor of TX) and I started a company called "Cold War Relics" in Holman Building in downtown Pacific Grove. We ran it from 98-99. With the build up to Y2K and the impending CA Assault Weapons Ban, those were crazy, crazy times. And, to top it off, AR15s were only sold by a few companies and were looked down upon by the majority of the public, to include the majority of gun owners.
A few factoids from that time:
- Bushmaster, ArmaLite and Olympic Arms were the big names.
- Cold War Relics was, at the time, Armalite's largest dealer
- From 1998-1999 Cold War Relics sold more AR15s (complete, lower halves and stripped lowers) than were eventually registered in the ENTIRE STATE of CA. (Think about that. Talk about low "registration compliance").
- Cold War Relics was a "Plank Holder" in AR15.COM
Here is another factoid. Gun shows are an incubator for the US Arms Industry. Below are some companies which started out in gun shows, with gun shows providing the revenue to grow them into substantial companies:
- Barrett
- Springfield Armory
- Rock River Arms
- Armalite/Eagle Arms
- Blackhawk
I am sure there are others, but that is a list off the top of my head.
Again, fun times.
Thanks for being a customer. We have things planned for you guys!

Camden Walmart had a bushmaster carbine & sig + 4 cans of the ammo @ $159 for 420 rds
Cherryville walmart has just started carrying them, Lincolnton and Shelby ones have been for a while.
i saw an AR in the Shallotte wally world this weekend. Now if they can start carrying bulk primers and powder it will be even better

For what it's worth, I used to work the Sporting Goods counter at a a couple Wal-Marts in Virginia, and as such I did gun sales all the time. I actually lost my job at one of the stores due to "conflicts with the department manager".
The conflict came because he was a passive little weasel who couldn't say no to a customer while I refused to sell firearms to anyone who smelled of alcohol. I had no problem selling firearms, in fact, sold many, including a few pistols from the special order catalog, but I never sold to someone who smelled like they'd been drinking and that led to more than a couple arguments.
I'm glad they canned me actually... I would have quit eventually because of that mess... Not saying that all WallyWorlds are the same, but I am a bit jaded because of the experience...
$159?? That's an EXCELLENT price for a rifle, a pistol and 1,680 rounds of ammo!
