 Busted my Knee or something...

Holy Shit... The pain...

So the day before valintines day, I tripped and fell on my knees... Completly ripped the knee out of one leg of my pants, look like I took a cheese grader to my knee, one palm and all the knucles on the other hand...

I came home, cleaned the abbrasions out and put Neosporin on them... Both hands are healed about 98-99%, my knees abbrasions looks to be about 90-95%...

The day or so after I initially fell, there was some swelling and pain. Hurt for a few days, but went away.. I thought OK, good to go... Then like two days ago I had to run some cables under the floor in the datacenter and had to neel on said knee and it started hurting again. By the time I got home from work yesterday, it was hurting pretty bad the point of not being able to walk well... So I took a Oxcy that I had stashed and it only slightly dulled the pain... It kept me up pretty much all night and I can't even get a sock on my right foot...

On the phone right now tryin to get a doctors apt...

This shit is for the birds...

That's what it sounds like to me. My wife did that back in September, took her a few months to heal and she's still only 85% if she kneels on her left leg at all.

If it is the kneecap, they might immobilize the leg in a walking cast. Hopefully it's 'just' a scored tendon; painful and slow-healing but not as bad as a break.

welp just got back...

Don't know much more thna when I went...

The only thing for sure is I have an infection in the knee.. That could explain some of the swelling and that the right knee is putting of heat, whereas the left is not...

She sent me to Metro Imaging to get several Xrays... I should know something in a few days.... WTF I wannan know now...

I'm betting they send me back for an MRI...

They gave me Anti-biotics and some pain killers (some thing called Tramadol).

Lets hope for the best.

Ultram (tramadol) is good as long as your looking to be functional and have tolerable pain (don't expect it to knock your ass out), I am surprised they didn't tell you to take ibuprofen with it, that will help with the inflammation (and to some extent the pain). Also, most people are told: don't take the tramadol and oxy (if you have any left) within 12 hours of each other, they both act on the same receptors and will interfere with the action of the other, giving you a reduced action of each.... Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, and can not give medical advice nor would I ever consider doing so. I can only relate some odd facts that may or may not relate to you and if you think anything said might relate to you, you should discuss it with your regular doctor.

Good luck, hopefully its just an infection from the wound and nothing else. The good news is that its a long way from your heart and you will probably live.

Also a note on the xrays; When you have an XR done they are typically read by a radiologist and then that report along with the images are forwarded to your doctor; this is typically done in less than 24 hours, so tomorrow afternoon casually call your doctor's office, ask if they have the report back on your knee XR, most office nurses will give you this info over the phone, but I don't know anything about your doc's SOP so who knows.

It works the opposite for me. Vicodin kind of takes the edge off my back pain, but Ultram stops it and makes me so loopy that I have trouble doing anything other than stay in bed. (I don't take it often, but I think about it every day).

Be prepared for not being able to drive or anything, in case it has a similar effect on you.

Either way, I hope it's something that will heal quickly and completely.

Sounds like you need to get some good knee pads to use at work for a while. I have a set of Mil Surp ones I bought when my knee was bugging me. They are a life saver. Got them at a local flee market for like ten bucks. Hopefully your kneecap isnt busted, pettelar tendonitis isnt fun but its probably better than a busted kneecap!!!

Ultram (tramadol) never did much for my pain. Bextra worked really well for me with joint pain but was taken off the market. Darvocet worked reasonably well for overall pain and I had fewer side affects but this drug too was taken of the market. Good luck as these types of injuries seem to only get worse with age.

I called 1st thing this morning and I have another appt for Tuesday after noon... I'm thinking they are going to want an MRI, since the Xrays turned up nothing...

Hoping they don't re-fer me to a specialist of some sorts. I really need this fixed...

The constant pain is a lot less but I still can not put all my weight on it or bend it much...

Hey I have a chainsaw, which is actually yours anyway, and a few bandaids left from my finger incident last week. And we can call Larue to see if they can come up with a badass stump with accessory rails and maybe even a QD mount.LOL Anyway lets get the leg feeling good. I am ready for some cabin and range time.
