Missouri Lawmaker Wants to Repeal Lifetime Ban on Food Stamps for Drug Felons

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— A Missouri legislator wants to cut some criminals a break.
He's proposing people with a felony drug conviction be eligible for food stamps.
Missouri is one of just nine states with a lifetime ban on food stamps for that kind
of felon. One in six Missourians is on food stamps and the Kansas City area Republican
congressman who proposed this bill argues there are even more who need them.
But he says some who do can't get them.
