Friend moving to Indiana from KY.
He has his KY CCW. How long does he have until he has to get his Indiana LTC? He just moved to the Salem area and said that the Police told him his KY CCW was good in Indiana until it expired. I cant find anything on the ISP FAQ. Thanks in advance.
I would not put much stock in what a cop tells him. Most of them don't squat about gun laws or CCW permit regs.
I would tell him to do his Lifetime permit now.
I believe my permit says to make a change of address within a month if I move within the state.
Honestly, I would tell him to make it one of the first things he does once he has finished moving. Just go find the building or do it online asap. I would assume he would get a break if he got popped for speeding the first couple months he is here but I wouldn't take too long, and yes do the lifetime while we still have it.

No one has ever introduced a bill to repeal it. Lifetime permits are not going away. At least as long as the republicans are in charge

Thats what I told him.
What I would say to him:
Don't sweat it too much, but get it done as soon as possible. Make the CLEO tell you it's too soon, and it can't be done until you've lived in Indiana for X amount of days.
Chances are, if he has a valid KY permit, and is in the process of establishing residency in Indiana, he should be afforded a degree of leniency.

Didn't say it's going away soon but it's always a possibility and why go through all the paperwork just for a 4 year permit?

I just checked the pink sheet that I cut my duplicate lifetime License to Carry out of when I changed address and it says notify withing 60 days of a address change but doesn't say anything about someone from out of state moving here with an out of state carry permit/license.

Has he called the State Police Firearms Div and asked them?
Might as well get it from the horses mouth.
We tried the other day at work and wasn't able to get someone. They have always been great at answering questions.
