I noticed that nobody had started a Indy 1500 thread yet, so I figured I'd go a head and do it.

Who's going, what are you looking for and/or looking to get rid of?

I'm toying with the idea of selling/or trading a GSG 22lr 1911 that I bought last spring. I just don't know what I would trade it for, I considered a small 9mm pocket pistol like a Keltec, or a 308 lower, but I'm not really sure.

ETA: I am also hoping to find the person who had the rifle rods display before, he was in the in the long narrow room on the north side of the South Pavilion.

It depends on what you want. Walk ins are pretty good and sometimes you can find a great deal on a large variety of items. I stopped going years ago as a customer because of the drive and the admin cost and parking. Just didnt add up when I would go with cash in hand and find no deals and end up spending $75 on expenses.

If you just want to get out and see some people and spend the day walking around and maybe get a deal, then go.

Meeting a co-worker there who wants to buy a gun. I can always help someone spend their money...

For any of you that may be inclined to help a fellow Hoosier out...

I have only attended one Indy 1500, in March of '10. In the north most bay, there was a fellow selling leather holsters of pretty simple designs. I seriously considered picking one up for my 1911, but didn't. The holsters were pouch type. The one I was interested in was constructed of a single piece of leather. Extension was folded down and stitched to form the belt loop, the body was formed by folding the leather around the gun and stitching on the trigger side. Nice and simple, maybe retro is the word?

Anyway, if the guy is there, I'd like to know if he has a website I can look at and order from. Otherwise, I'll have to wait and try to make the next 1500 as this weekend is booked up.

Still trying to decide if o want to go. Did anybody happen see if there was a place selling the rifle rods kits? Could also be interested in trading for a Draco or one of the Savage MK2 with the threaded barrel.

Very busy.

When I left @ 11:30, the line went from the door south to the end of the building, and around west to the OTHER end of the building!!!!! I've seen it around the corner before, but that was the longest.

Got there at 1:00, longest line I've ever seen. Turned around and went home. Wasted $5 on parking, luckily I'm local.

I don't know why it was so busy, this is normally a slow show.

I haven't been to this show in about 4 years, so I thought it would be nice to go. Got there at 10 this morning, the line went around the building, and half way around the other side of it. Couldn't believe it. Got inside, and you couldn't move! I felt like a sardine in a can. The state fire marshal should have shut this place down for overcrowding. This had to be the worst show I've attended in a while. I left at 1, and the line was even longer! I think I'll stick to the smaller shows for a while.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Went back today and only stuck it out to buy my son his new M&P22. Got a good deal and popped smoke, it was the worst I've ever seen at a 1500.

I went on Friday. When the doors opened, the line was at least two city blocks long. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular. I didn't see a single good deal on anything that beat some of our local gun shops like Dave's in Holland, IN and Whittaker's near Owensboro, KY. I look at the Indy 1500 as something to do if I'm in the area and I'm bored but I haven't found a good deal on a gun there in many, many years. I hope others have had better luck than me.
The only thing I bought was some of those cinnamon pecans. As I was walking out, I talked with several other guys and that was all they had bought too. It's kinda' sad to go to a gun show with money in your pocket and not find anything to spend it on.

This has never been a "slow" show. As a matter of fact, it is the busiest show year in and year out––at least it has been for the 8 or 9 years I have been attending regularly.

Hmm, maybe I'm getting my shows mixed up, or maybe I just never went to the one right after Christmas on a Saturday before.

The "slow" show year in and year out has always been the June show.
